While the catch/keep/throwback results of yesterday (11/11/19) certainly did not compare very favorably with those of last Thursday (11/14/19) on the Angler; these latest "results" could not be blamed on the outstanding efforts of both Captain Chris and Mate Rich to both put us on the fish and make the day as enjoyable as was possible considering the lack of cooperation from the Black Sea Bass population. Personally, I would like to believe the extreme winds and heavy seas in 3.5 of the 4.0 days prior to yesterday's sailing contributed toward the almost total lack of appetite displayed on the Sea Bass' part ... their stomachs were probably full of small pebbles and similar matter, taken in as ballast during rough sea periods. Just for comparison purposes, the personal "catch/keep/throwback" totals for the two (2) days were as follows: Thursday, 11/14/19 ... 65 Sea Bass Caught, 13 Kept, 52 Throwbacks (inclusive of 3-4 which upon measuring were just too close to call or risk). Tuesday, 11/19/19 ... 1 Sea Bass Caught, -0- Kept, 1 Throwback. Plus seven (7) Spiny Dogfish, all released. I can't wait for the next opportunity with some more favorable weather conditions in order to get out on the Angler get into some serious Black Sea Bass fishing with Captain Chris and 1st Mate Rich. In the meantime, I might try to get in a Tog Trip or two and let the seas settle down a bit and the Sea Bass time to extract that "ballast' from their systems and regain their appetites.
