Oaxaca - Welcome to Oaxaca!
Enjoy private tours in comfortable and clean vehicles tailored just for you. Customize your excursion to suit your preferences, spending as much time as you like at each stop. Collaborate with artisans and native families to create intimate experiences. Avoid the typical tours that only take you to roadside stops with limited time!
Here’s a list of places to visit, start customizing your tour today! - Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban - Embark on a guided tour of Oaxaca’s most significant archaeological site, exploring the best spots and learning about the culture and lifestyle of our ancestors. Stroll leisurely around this UNESCO site, allowing time to enjoy and capture stunning photos.
- Hierve el Agua - Discover one of only two petrified waterfalls in the world, located in Pamukkale, Turkey, and Oaxaca, Mexico! Hike to see the petrification formed over the years with a native guide. This town is governed by traditional rights, so local guides are required, and they work for voluntary tips. Visiting early in the morning is recommended to appreciate the breathtaking views, take amazing pictures, and enjoy the natural pools without crowds. Group tours typically arrive by 11:00 am.
- Zona Arqueologica de Mitla - After Monte Alban was abandoned, Mitla became the most important city in the Central Valley of Oaxaca due to its economic, political, and military power. Enjoy a guided tour through its beautiful architecture and the stunning wall decorations. Mitla was designed to withstand earthquakes.
- San Martin Tilcajete - Experience Oaxacan art by visiting a family workshop led by natives. These colorful and fantastical wooden animals hold mysticism. Witness the entire process from carving to painting with beautiful Zapotec symbols. Discover your protector or spiritual animal!
- Tule Tree - See the world’s widest tree and one of the oldest, located in the charming and clean town of Tule, featuring a beautiful garden.
- Teotitlan del Valle - Visit a small cooperative of native weavers crafting wool rugs and enjoy a demonstration of natural dyes by a Zapotec family. While many workshops exist, not all use natural dyes, which are crucial for preserving culture, tradition, and the environment. Learn about the lifestyle and worldview of indigenous families.
- San Bartolo - This decorative pottery is not utilitarian. Experience how artisans work with black pottery and see the use of pre-Hispanic lathes to create classic, modern, and master pieces. All decoration and shine are done by hand! The artisans are proud of their work, so feel free to ask questions and take photos.
- Cuevas Prehistoricas de Mitla - The first corn seeds of the American continent were found here. Hike a mountain to visit a complex of five pre-Hispanic caves featuring petroglyphs in red, white, and black, depicting hands, hunting scenes, stars, the sun, spirals, corncobs, and more. Follow community rules with a native guide. A rich history awaits!

Teotitlan del Valle - BEEWAX CANDLES
An almost forgotten tradition in this town. These organic candles were made for special occasions like weddings, festivals, and Catholic masses. The most special was for proposing to a native woman. Today, they are still made artisanally using beeswax for decorative candles like flowers, cacti, sculptures, and more. - Mercado Tlacolula - Market day is a timeless tradition in Oaxaca. People from various towns and regions come here to shop or sell local products like fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, souvenirs, traditional clothes, food, and even live animals! Market days offer a genuine glimpse into town life. Highly recommended for trying the meat hall and goat or sheep barbacoa. ONLY ON SUNDAYS.
- Santo Tomás Jalieza - A small village with a rich tradition. Visit a group of women working with the backstrap loom in their courtyard. Unlike other textiles, these are more utilitarian, creating table runners, purses, placemats, coasters, shoulder bags, bracelets, belts, and straps for guitars, sunglasses, or cameras.
- Ocotlan de Morelos - Market day is a timeless tradition in Oaxaca. People from various towns and regions come here to shop or sell local products like fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, souvenirs, traditional clothes, food, and even live animals! Market days offer a genuine glimpse into town life. Highly recommended for trying traditional moles at a market stand. ONLY ON FRIDAYS.
- Santa Catarina Minas - A very small town preserving the ancestral Mezcal process, using clay pots for distillation, giving mezcal a unique and authentic taste. Mezcal tasting not included.
- Santiago Matatlan - As the saying goes, “Mezcal doesn’t get you drunk, it makes you magical.” The best way to enjoy it is by visiting a distillery, learning about the process, discovering different types of agave plants, and most importantly, tasting them all! Explore the vast agave fields and traditional distilleries east of Oaxaca city.
