• Viguera - The “Paint Your Alebrije” experience offers a distinctive cultural activity in the community of Viguera, a town just 20 minutes from the historic center. Here, visitors will explore the enchanting space of artisans from the Mixe region in the state of Oaxaca.

Participants will gain firsthand insight into the creative process of alebrijes, which are hand-carved and hand-painted wooden figures that embody the imagination and worldview of the Zapotec people.

During the workshop, each participant will select a wooden figure and, with guidance from a local master artisan, will learn traditional painting techniques to bring their unique piece to life. This experience provides an opportunity to take home an authentic, colorful, and meaningful souvenir.
