Additional Information
Every surfing lesson at Gone Surfing Hawaii kicks off on the beach, starting with understanding the ocean and safety precautions. Following that, we quickly get you into the waves for a remarkable experience of wind and surf. There’s no need for concern, as our certified instructors are well-trained in first aid and lifeguard CPR. As soon as you’re in the water, we’ll guide you on how to interpret the waves, position yourself for the perfect start, and the norms of surfing. Whether you fancy private lessons or enjoy group activities, our tailored lessons are designed to make your surfing experience truly unforgettable.
- Minimum age is 5 years
- All participants MUST know how to swim
- Help us keep your children safe and please book anyone under 13 years old on a Private Lesson (required). Choose the same date/time and your group will still be able to surf together.

Trevor and Maya were... - Trevor and Maya were excellent! I felt like they were my friends and I’ve known them forever. They made our experience comfortable and fun. This was a highlight of our honeymoon!

ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE - IT WAS AWESOME!!!! Gabe my instructor is such a GREAT teacher.....I was able to get up everytime on my board and this is only my 2nd time in 39years of my life that I have been surfing!!!! Gabe he was patient helpful and fun! Everytime i got up he was just as excited as me and gave me tips to get better.....I LOVED EVERY BIT....Oh and my camera lady I forgot her name but she was #DOE too.....not only did ahe capture GREAT PICS but she as well gave me tios to help me get better and enjoy my experience! Oh also SHOUT-OUT to the guy at the booth on the beach if it weren't for him with his helpful attitude I would have never booked l. THANK YOU to you sir bc of you I had one of the BEST days of my life!!!!

Gone Surfing Hawaii with Lopoka - My instructor Lopoka was excellent, I was able to stand on my first wave (even Goofy)

Beautiful day on the waves ! - My daughter (10) and I had a great time out surfing ! The waves were great and our instructors were very knowledgeable. My daughter had never been out before and she rode tandem. The instructor did great keeping her calm and making sure she got some great rides!

Great instructor - Trevor was my instructor and he was such a great teacher. I just wish he had modified the lesson to match my skills, as I was not really a beginner and got the hang of it right away. He was very encouraging though and a top bloke.

Satisfying Surf Lesson! - My buddy and I had a great experience with our instructor Trevor. After a little land coaching, we headed out to catch waves. Both me and my buddy were able to stand up a few of times. Trevor gave us helpful feedback after watching us each time. He saw that I was struggling with the paddling against the waves when heading back out and gave me a helping tow! I really liked Trevor, he paid attention to what we were doing and put us at ease. It was a memorable day for us, and I would recommend it!

We had "Gone Surfing" and had a fantastic experience - Waikiki was the perfect place to learn how to surf. It was the first time for both my teenage daughter and I to give it a try. Neither of us are Olympic swimmers, but we managed to paddle out and take several waves during the 1.5 hour lesson.
Tommy and Trevor were great as they provided helpful hints, encouragement, and made the whole experience memorable.
The photos and video footage were fantastic. One sequence captured the two of us taking the same wave with Diamond Head in the background.
I would recommend Gone Surfing to anyone who is looking for a fun and unforgettable experience with the help of some Surfing Pros.

moderate - A bit disappointed actually, i booked a private class hope to get more from 1.5 hr, instead of there's a lower price for 2 hr, now i think private or not private is not a issue, instructor you come across with is critical. The communication between me and the instructor is a little bit weak. I feel like the instructor was tired that day, that i have to initiate some details technique communication, like the breakdown of your movement. The instructor is experienced in surfing himself, but might need to emphasized more in teaching skills. Also, They taking your photos (which i got to know only when i started to surf) and have not show me my photo yet, hopefully they dont use it anywhere else.
