I travel to explore new places and rediscover old ones. Italy is one of my all-time favorites - my parents took me there growing up, and now I take my boys. My team and I just got back from a trip to Brazil, and Rio was fantastic - I would go back year after year. I would spend a perfect day in Oahu because it is beautiful and has great energy. I would love to hang out with my boys, swimming and watching them surf. My most memorable moment in Oahu so far has been visiting Doris Duke’s estate, Shangri La. The house and gardens are spectacular, as is her collection of Islamic art. I can’t wait to check out the new book, Doris Duke’s Shangri-La: A House in Paradise.

The activities not to be missed
1. A hike to Manoa Falls - a great alternative to the beach.
2. Waikiki Beach - the water is usually calm and perfect for paddleboarding.
3. The Pali Lookout - breathtaking views of O’ahu.
4. Listen to traditional Hawaiian music at House Without a Key, the bar at the Halekulani.
5. Catch the sunset or go whale watching on a catamaran cruise.

My favorite places to eat
1. Morimoto Waikiki for the fresh sushi and great cocktails—my favorite was the Savory Cucumber.
2. Wahoo’s Fish Taco, owned by two women entrepreneurs, for the shrimp tacos.
3. Matsumoto for the pineapple, coconut and banana shaved ice.
The places you should definitely see
1. ‘Iolani Palace, built by the Hawaiian King Kalakaua in 1882. It’s been meticulously restored.
2. Laniakea Beach, on the North Shore, where green sea turtles come onto the beach to sunbathe. It’s incredible to see them up close.
3. Diamond Head, the volcanic crater. It’s a steep hike, but the view from the summit is spectacular.
My travel tips

1. There are so many great hikes - pack sports gear!
2. Read the Honolulu Star Advertiser for local exhibits and events.

The place I'm most excited to go next is on a safari in Kenya or Tanzania - it’s one of those unbelievable trips I have heard about many times, and have always wanted to do.
