- Battleship Missouri Memorial - The USS Missouri, weighing over 58,000 tons and stretching nearly 900 feet from bow to stern, is an impressive and formidable ship. Once a powerful force, this majestic vessel now peacefully watches over Pearl Harbor.
Known as the “Mighty Mo,” it was the last American battleship constructed and the final one to be decommissioned. Visitors can explore over 70 years of history on the Battleship Missouri through engaging educational programs and experiences. There are numerous programs available for teachers, students, and parents to learn about the Mighty Mo’s contributions during World War II, the Korean War, and Operation Desert Storm. Step aboard the largest classroom you’ll ever experience and discover our nation’s legacy.
- National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific - Situated in an extinct volcano near the heart of Honolulu, Hawaii, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is a place of remembrance.
Flanking the grand stairs leading to the memorial are eight courts of the missing, inscribed with the names of 18,095 American World War II missing from the Pacific, excluding the southwest Pacific, and 8,210 American missing from the Korean War. These names were listed on the Korean War Courts of the Missing at the time of the dedication in 1966. Two additional half courts at the base of the staircase contain the names of 2,504 Americans missing from the Vietnam War. At the top of the stairs, a chapel is surrounded by galleries featuring mosaic maps and descriptions of the American armed forces’ achievements in the central and south Pacific regions and in Korea.
