Iolani Palace - Iolani Palace
Commissioned by King David Kalakaua, Iolani Palace is the only Royal Palace on American soil. Built in 1879, it served as the seat of power for the Kingdom of Hawaii until the overthrow of its last Queen in 1893. The palace then functioned as the Capitol Building for the Republic of Hawaii, the Territory of Hawaii, and the State of Hawaii until 1969. It opened as a museum in 1978, with restoration efforts returning it to its former glory as a Royal Palace. -
Hawaii State Capitol - State Capitol Building
The Hawaii State Capitol Building was designed to be the seat of power for the State of Hawaii. Its Bauhaus-inspired design incorporates significant symbolism, such as pillars representing the trunks of Royal Palms, a Hawaiian symbol of governance, with each pillar symbolizing a Hawaiian Island. The reflection pool symbolizes the ocean surrounding Hawaii. The Capitol Building also features a statue of Hawaii’s Saint Damien. - Washington Place - Washington Place was once the residence of Hawaii’s last monarch, Queen Liliuokalani. Built in 1847 in the Greek Revival style, it resembles many homes from the antebellum South. Constructed by the Dominis family, John Dominis was Queen Liliuokalani’s husband. After his passing, the residence became hers. Following the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy, Liliuokalani spent her remaining years here. After her death, it became the residence of Hawaii’s Governors.

The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific is a federal cemetery situated in the caldera of an extinct volcano. Known locally as Punchbowl Cemetery, it is the final resting place for American soldiers and veterans from WWI to the present. The cemetery’s centerpiece is a memorial dedicated to veterans missing in action or buried at sea, featuring the statue of Lady Columbia. Below the statue is an excerpt from Abraham Lincoln’s letter to Mrs. Bixby. Many Pearl Harbor attack victims are interred here, including those whose remains are unidentified.
