This beautiful, secluded stretch of sand lies just beyond the popular Halona Blowhole. The beach offers a magnificent scene, reached after a drive along the lava rock cliffs of Koko Head Crater.
• Makapu’u Point - Offers stunning coastal views and vistas of offshore islands. Gazing into the azure waters of the bay, you can spot Oahu’s famous Manana Island, also known as Rabbit Island due to its rabbit-like shape.
• Byodo-In Temple - Oahu’s Byodo-In Temple was constructed to honor the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants arriving in Hawai’i in 1868. Known as Phoenix Hall in Japan, the temple resembles the outstretched wings of a bird or features a Phoenix atop the roof. Walking around the back reveals the building’s T-shape, with a pond flowing beneath the temple’s rear.

Built over three years, the temple was dedicated in June 1968 with a traditional Buddhist ceremony. It has since become one of Oahu’s top ten attractions, drawing over 300,000 visitors annually.

Inside, the temple houses a Lotus Buddha with brass artwork adorning the ceiling. Beyond the impressive structure and Buddha, the surrounding gardens and pond offer immense beauty.
