Historical view of Hawaiian governance - We were met promptly by our guide, Susan, who mic'd up and began sharing the history of the Kamehameha kings and the development of the Hawaiian system of governance before becoming a U.S. state. Another couple from the Yukon joined us shortly, and Susan recapped what she had already shared. After explaining the significance of Kamehameha's statue, Susan led us to other locations in the immediate area including the Territorial Government building, the first Christian church, the State Government building, Queen Liliuokalani's statue and Iolani Palace. At each stop along the way, Susan answered questions and supplied relevant and interesting information, which we greatly enjoyed. We would recommend this experience to anyone interested in getting an on-the-ground history lesson. This tour does not include visits inside any of the buildings which was acceptable to us. Kudos to Susan, our guide!

Great city walking tour - Our guide was punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. Susan gave us a detailed overview of the history of the city, island and Hawaiian culture. The tour did not wander far from the starting point so for those that did not want to walk too much that would suit them. Most of the historic sights are quite close by to each other. We appreciated her enthusiasm and passion for Hawaii’s history and culture.

Warm, Insightful walking tour of downtown Ohau. - Susan gave us a warm, insightful walking tour on a grey rainy day with a full history of the past of the kingdoms on the islands, alongside its unification under Kamehameha and the formation of modern Hawaii. We visited 4-5 main landmarks in a 1.5Km radius and covered the important stuff. Highly recommend!

Fun and interesting walking tour - Susan was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about oahu's history. I did this tour on my own. Tour was short (<1.5 hr) but packed with information. I also stopped inside the Supreme Court and found out they have a small exhibit. I would highly recommend this tour if you have time!

Excellent and Informative (Free) Tour of Downtown Honolulu - It was a well-documented and well presented history of Hawaii after European arrival. Susan, our guide, was excellent in detailing the chronology, the events, and the people. The focus was strictly around the central part of Honolulu, with all the historic and government buildings. We recommend the tour, and specifically our guide, for 1.5 hours well spent; it gave us a good sense of the history and an excellent addition to the many hikes, sightseeing, and Polynesian history of the island(s).
