Interesting. Very nice personnel. - Lovely museum that shows all kinds of Hawaii’s history. Very interesting depiction of how the foreigners came in and took over.

Beautiful experience - It was a great learning experience! I do really wish the planetarium was open though, it was one of the main things we had wanted to go see.

Great museum with a rich and varied collection. - Due to a very busy schedule, we had planned just 2 hours for this visit to Bishop Museum. But if you're truly interested in the local history, keep at least half a day.

Crash Course in Hawaiian History, Culture and Geology at Bishop Museum - The Bishop Museum is a must see for anyone seriously interest in Hawaiian history and culture. I spent an entire day there as there is so much to see. The main building is also of architectural interest and loaded with genuine ancient Hawaiian artifacts that are well preserved. There is a science museum there too, which is geared toward families but nonetheless interesting to me as I went to a geology lecture on volcanoes and how the work and the kinds of rocks they form after eruptions. You can get to it on Bus no 2 from Waikiki (It's a three block walk from the bus stop) and in a residential area.

Learning about the people who live Ohana and Aloha is important. - This was the first sight I wanted to go after landing in Oahu. I wanted to share the history and culture of the Hawaiian people to my youngest son. Learning about the people who taught Ohana and Aloha to the world is important in our family.

Interesting But Not Necessarily A Must - I headed off to the Bishop Museum with the temperature around the mid 30s range. Chatting to the Uber driver on the way over he told me how it was a highly politicised organisation. According to the driver this was mainly due to its involvement in the indigenous people's debate. They had an impressive display on the former Kings and Queens of the islands, including the monarchies over throw in the early 1890's and its inclusion as a state of the US. I wasn't there for the indigenous history lesson, I was there for the dinosaurs. I wandered into the pavilion where more than 10 life size animatronic dinosaurs greeted me. The place was going crazy with kids running about having consumed too much sugar. Having said that it was well put together with a range of interactive things to touch. Many parents were having a blast too so it was clearly an agreeable outing. The only negative of the entire excursion was the cafe staff who clearly would have rather been anywhere else but at work. There was almost a hostility in their service, quite disappointing.

Worth a visit - A beautiful place. The main building was fantastic with three stories of well planned galleries and alcoves. Walking in to the main hall takes your breath away. We were sad the planetarium was closed.

Most overrated museum in Honolulu - When we landed in Honolulu, there were half a dozen people who "highly recommended " Bishops's museum. We are a family who loves museums and visited many museums in the USA. We as visitors were very anticipative of the time we could spend at a science museum. Bishops's museum is about 25 minutes drive from waikiki and we spent about 35$/ person general admission ticket. One has to spend extra 2$/person for the show we chose in the astronomy centre. I must admit show was good. We visited science and technology which was meant for only children. The only gallery which was good was the pacific gallery. There was a private event and museum was to shut down early. I guess one can say it was not a good value for money and time that you spend at such a museum. One can easily avoid Bishops's museum at honolulu.

The most expensive museum in the world (undeserving) - The visit is not worth it, between the parking lot and the museum entrance fees we leave more than 90$. We didn’t have a sad audio guide to explain anything, languages are missing. All the objects on display are a century or less old, not far from what we expected from this museum. Looks like a tourist hoax.
