Aberdare National Park - Departing early from Nairobi, you’ll journey to Aberdare National Park, arriving around lunchtime. After enjoying a meal and high tea, you’ll proceed to The Ark tree lodge, located on the forested slopes of the Aberdare Mountains at an elevation of 7,000 feet. From this vantage point, you can observe wildlife from various viewpoints throughout the lodge. Be on the lookout for rare species such as giant forest hogs, bongos, and spotted genets that may appear at different lodge levels.
Aberdare to Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve
Ol Pejeta Conservancy - Today, you’ll travel to Ol Pejeta Ranch and Rhino Reserve, a tranquil sanctuary dedicated to safeguarding rhinos from poaching threats. Your accommodation will be at Sweetwater Serena Tented Camp, situated in the heart of the reserve, providing direct access to the wildlife and conservation efforts taking place there.
Ol Pejeta to Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru National Park - Following breakfast, you’ll pack a picnic lunch and set off for Lake Nakuru National Park in the Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy lunch and then spend the afternoon on a game drive to observe the abundant wildlife inhabiting the park. The lake itself is stunning, with a wealth of animal activity surrounding it.
Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha
Lake Naivasha - After an early breakfast, you’ll spend the morning exploring Nakuru park, observing flamingos and the approximately 350 bird species recorded there. Black and white rhinoceroses also inhabit this area. By midday, you’ll pack up and head to nearby Lake Naivasha, bringing a picnic lunch for the journey. Later in the evening, you’ll embark on a boat ride on the lake to experience it from the water.
Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara National Reserve
Masai Mara National Reserve - Following breakfast, you’ll visit Hell’s Gate National Park, where you can choose between a game drive or a biking adventure. If you opt for biking, you’ll cycle approximately 7 kilometers through the park and pause at a ranger’s post to rest. Afterward, you’ll embark on a walking safari to enjoy the gorge views. Lunch follows, and then you’ll drive to Masai Mara National Reserve later in the day.
Masai Mara Full Day Game Drive
Masai Mara National Reserve - You’ll dedicate the entire day to exploring Masai Mara’s rolling grasslands for game viewing. Large herds of wildebeest migrate here from the Serengeti with their calves, offering opportunities to spot the Big Five and observe hippos along the Mara riverbanks. There’s also an optional visit to a Maasai village to experience their traditional way of life. You’ll carry a picnic lunch for the full day of drives.
Masai Mara Game Drive Full Day
Masai Mara National Reserve - Today promises an exhilarating game viewing experience! The Masai Mara Game Reserve is renowned as the most thrilling wildlife ecosystem, hosting the highest and most diverse concentration of wild animals in the region. The scenic beauty of the tree-studded savannah plains, the moderate climate, and the variety of wild game species make it a prime destination for game viewing activities. You’ll traverse the Masai Mara reserve for a full day of unlimited game viewing, encountering the Big Five and other lesser-known wildlife. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed by the Mara river, where you can watch hippos and crocodiles or perhaps witness the great migration (July – October).
Masai Mara to Nairobi
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport - After an early breakfast at the lodge, you’ll check out and embark on one final game drive as you make your way back to Nairobi. You should arrive in the late afternoon, concluding your safari adventure.
