• Playas del Coco - Tucked away in the foothills of Guanacaste is the Eco Park, home to the area’s only Sloth rescue refuge. Renowned for their wildlife rescue efforts, the Eco Park rehabilitates injured, orphaned, or confiscated wildlife at their state-of-the-art facility in Playa Matapalo. A visit to the park’s animal sanctuary will bring you face to face with a family of Two-Toed Sloths, as well as white-faced Capuchin monkeys, Toucans, Spider Monkeys, Marmosets, Gray Foxes, Crocodiles, Caimans, Turtles, Iguanas, Butterflies, Frogs, Parrots, Small birds, Wild Turkeys, Snakes, and more, including jungle cats like Ocelots, Jaguars, Margays, and Pumas.

Spend the day traversing through rivers, slicing through mountain trails, and over rough terrain. The trip includes halts for swimming and photography. All skill levels are acceptable, and there’s no need for prior experience in buggy riding.

The Sanctuary hosts the greatest diversity of species in a single location. The habitats are designed to simulate a natural environment for the animals while allowing visitors to interact and enjoy a safe but close viewing. The sanctuary houses sloths, monkeys, jaguars, toucans, pumas, crocodiles, snakes, a wildcat habitat, a butterfly observatory, and habitats for two and three-toed sloths.
