A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon - A great way to spend a few hours. The tour guide Darren was very informative, knowledgeable and obviously passionate about his work. Very interesting to learn about the differences between different types of rum and the science behind the process.
Very generous samples of their different rums made for a very enjoyable afternoon, and an expensive visit to their shop.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DropWorks Rum Distillery Tour – A Masterclass in Rum, Wit, and Unexpected Friendships - Absolutely brilliant tour at DropWorks! Darren was knowledgeable, engaging, and funny, the perfect guide to the world of rum. We learnt the whole process from molasses to bottle (yes, we even tasted raw molasses… an experience in itself!). The rum samples were very generous, which triggered what I can only describe as “question Tourette’s”, all handled by Darren with saintly patience. Copper Sulphate… you know who you are. Left with our two favourite bottles and big smiles. Highly recommend booking a tour!

If you like rum, you will love this place! - Darren, our guide was very welcoming and answered questions on various topics, such as the history of Dropworks, how they make the rum and the vision for the future. The tour was a relaxed 90 minutes and is very interesting. We started with a chat at the bar with a cocktail, while waiting for the group to arrive. The distillery itself is quite a small area but there's a lot going on in there! I learned so much, not only about how the rum is made but the science behind it, and also why I prefer the rum that I do. I was really looking forward to this tour and it did not disappoint. It was definitely worth the money. I was worried about doing a distillery tour as a designated driver as I couldn't sample the rum during the tour, but this was not an issue. The smells were amazing and Darren was very accommodating, giving me a non alcoholic cocktail and samples to take home and try. I didn't feel left out at all. It was a small group with everyone interacting and asking questions. There was a really friendly feel to the tour. I had opted to do this tour as a rainy day activity but it would be ideal any time for any occasion. The distillery temperature is dictated by the weather outside so dress appropriately. Although I'm sure once you have had a couple of samples, it will warm you up! We will definitely be going back in the future to see what new concoctions the genius's here come up with.

Brilliant, informal but informative tour. Great Rum too! - Darren was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their business. We tasted five rums, and the drives came away with two samples. Background information to the business together with how rum is produced was really informative. It was so good we bought two bottles! Take extra layers in winter as it’s cold inside, but well worth going. We’re getting tickets for our adult children to go it was so good. We were there just over two hours. Then the Welbeck cafe is and farm shop just around the corner with the Harley gallery. Brilliant day out

An excellent tour with an excellent guide - Wow! Superb!
From the initial correspondence to book 4 very busy diaries in for this experience, Darren was an utter gem. A plethora of emails finally saw us settle for the 6th November 2025.
Though a little tricky to find within the Welbeck estate, the distillery itself is really interesting.
Darren (or Darroofus with our little team of Doofus’s) was knowledgeable and very entertaining. A clear, engaging, positive and friendly guide who took us through the history of the estate, how the distillery was founded, how they support local farmers - a genuinely committed individual who helps to translate the science into an understandable format.
I would definitely recommend a tour - and the rums!
Thank you Darroofus - a brilliant experience.
