Here, one can pause to admire the stunning views of the Cheviot Hills and Scotland.
- Etal - After traversing a brief woodland section, the path descends towards Etal village, passing the estate farm and sawmill (20 minutes). Etal village features charming whitewashed cottages, a tearoom, a thatched pub, and the historic Etal Castle (can be visited later - 45 minutes).
Glimpses of the 18th-century Etal Manor, complete with its private chapel, can be seen as the route continues towards Heatherslaw (20 minutes). The next stop is a medieval water-powered flour mill, accompanied by a delightful tearoom and craft shops worth exploring (20 minutes).
