Cannot Say Enough Good Things! - An all around amazing experience from the start - Jay, our guide, the woodstove-warmed cabin, ice fishing, the fact that lights came out to play, the reindeer sausage and fish, and even the crazy cold temps! Despite the warmth in the cabin, your feet will get cold if you don't have good footwear, so be prepared for that. You'll be warm enough that you'll be removing layers up top though. All will be needed for warmth when you walk out to check on the lights every so often. It was -32 the night we went out. Whether you're catching fish or not, it's a great experience to be hanging in a cabin. Having the lights show up is a definite plus, but nothing in anyone's control. Our guide, Jay, was fantastic - prepped our bait, played good music, kept us company, helped check on the lights and cooked up some great sausage and fish. We did this trip as a family of four, which included 2 teenagers. They had a blast too. We do not regret our choice in booking this experience at all!

Great experience - One more to ✔️off my bucket list. We had a great time/a great experience, even though we couldn’t see the Aurora since it was snowing, Jay made sure we made the best of it. He was fun and knowledgeable. I recommend this tour anytime.

I would definitely like to do this again! - Our guide, Jay, was very knowledgeable and helpful. Although I didn’t catch any fish and the northern lights didn’t come out, I absolutely loved the experience. I was surprised how warm and toasty the wood-burning stove kept us during -40° below zero. Jay also cooked some deer sausage on the stove and it was delicious!

Fun experience! Would like to come back to get some bigger salmon! - Pretty fun experience, my first time ice fishing and my wife’s first time ever fishing. Got a couple bites but they fell off my hook, my wife caught her first fish! Which was super exciting and fun to see her experience! Aurora was out a little which was nice before the trip back home. The fresh fish and reindeer sausage was yummy too! Never had that fresh of fish before!

Great for all Alaskan Adventures - Since the first phone call to get information, the staff was great! We ended up booking 3 activities with Rod’s. We Dog Sledded with Luther, Ice Fished and Aurora’d with Colton and Snow Machined with Josh. All 3 guides were fun, friendly, knowledgeable and super awesome. The office staff especially Jessica were all friendly and helpful. In talking to all of the guides it seems Rod is an awesome boss and he has longtime happy employees. We can’t recommend them enough.

Night time ice fishing and aurora viewing - We had an incredible nighttime ice fishing and aurora viewing experience! Everything was well organized, and our guide Colton Vivian made sure we were comfortable, warm, and well taken care of throughout the evening. He even cooked us up some reindeer hotdogs to snack on! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and great at explaining both ice fishing and what to look for in the night sky. When the aurora appeared, we were able to step outside and take in the incredible night sky and northern lights. Seeing the aurora dance across the sky, in person was absolutely breathtaking and something we’ll never forget. The quiet, the scenery, and the overall atmosphere were absolutely amazing — something you really can’t experience anywhere else. Towards the end of the night we ate a few of the fish we caught, and I ended up catching the biggest fish of the night! This was a memorable and special experience for my partner and I, and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Alaska. A perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty.

Ice fishing/ Best tour guide Colton👍 - I lived ice fishing and our guide Colton was the best and most helpful person I have ever known. I didn’t personally catch lots of fish but my family did. I loved this experience and would love to go again. Once again, Colton was the best and very helpful.

A perfect way to view the Northern Lights! - Our fishing adventure was one of a kind! I would definitely recommend this tour. So professional and well planned out. The ice fishing cabin was very nice and much bigger than I expected. Went as a family of five. we all caught fish and had stunning views of the lights. We were provided with a snack of reindeer sausage and our guide even cooked up the fish we caught. Our guide was super knowledgable and had lots of interesting stories to share. It was fun to have an entertaining activity to do in a warm space while staying up to view the lights.
