The route from Kiruna to Abisko (100km) traces the “Iron Ore railway” alongside the mountains and Scandinavia’s largest mountain lake, “Torneträsk.” During the one-hour journey to Abisko, the guide will share stories about the history and the people who constructed this “Iron Ore railway” in the early 1900s.
In Abisko, participants will snowshoe along the semi-frozen creek “Abisko Jåkka,” explore animal tracks, flora, and fauna, and learn about the scientific research conducted in the area. A homemade outdoor lunch will be enjoyed amidst this “spring winter” landscape.
