Sailing the Southern Coast: A Day of Sun and Sea in Aruba
With the ocean calling my name, I couldn’t resist the allure of a day spent cruising along Aruba’s southern coast. The promise of sun, sea, and adventure was too tempting to pass up.
Setting Sail on the Southern Coast
The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the dock, ready to embark on the Lagoon Cruise adventure. The promise of a day spent on the water, with the wind in my hair and the sun on my face, was too tempting to resist. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and I couldn’t wait to explore Aruba’s southern coast from a new perspective.
The Montford III, a charming teak schooner, awaited us at the dock. While the term “luxury” might be a bit of a stretch, the boat had a certain rustic charm that appealed to my laid-back nature. The crew greeted us with warm smiles and a friendly demeanor, setting the tone for a relaxed day at sea. As we set sail, I found a comfortable spot on the deck, ready to soak in the sights and sounds of the Caribbean.
A Day of Sun, Sea, and Snorkeling
As we cruised along the coast, the views were nothing short of spectacular. We passed by the towering highrises of Palm Beach and the quaint lowrises of Eagle Beach, each offering a unique glimpse into Aruba’s diverse landscape. The music on board was lively, with a mix of dance tunes that kept the energy high. While a bit of ACDC might not be everyone’s cup of tea, it added a fun twist to the experience.
Our first stop was the Spanish Lagoon, a spot known for its vibrant marine life and crystal-clear waters. While some guests eagerly donned their snorkels and fins, I opted for a more leisurely approach. The currents were a bit strong for a casual swim, but the view from the deck was more than enough to keep me entertained. Watching the snorkelers explore the underwater world reminded me of the countless hours I’ve spent riding waves and feeling the ocean’s embrace.
A Taste of the Caribbean
As the sun reached its zenith, it was time for lunch. The onboard chef prepared a simple yet satisfying buffet, featuring a selection of skewers, salads, and fresh fruit. While it might not have been a gourmet feast, the flavors were fresh and the atmosphere was convivial. I savored a Pina Colada as I chatted with fellow travelers, sharing stories of our adventures and dreams of future travels.
As we made our way back to the dock, the gentle sway of the boat and the cool Caribbean breeze lulled me into a state of blissful relaxation. The day had been a perfect blend of adventure and tranquility, a reminder of why I chose to make the Caribbean my home. Whether you’re a seasoned ocean lover or a first-time explorer, the Lagoon Cruise offers a unique way to experience the beauty of Aruba’s southern coast.
