- Nizwa Souk - The tour begins in the morning with a drive towards Nizwa, which was the capital of Oman during the Al Yaruba Dynasty. Visitors will explore the renowned Nizwa Market (Souq), where a diverse array of vendors offer their products along the souk’s streets. Here, one can find vegetables, pottery, jewelry, handicrafts, Omani sweets (halwa), dates, spices, and souvenirs, all sold in authentic old market halls that are rare to find elsewhere. The Friday cattle market is particularly fascinating, as locals gather to sell goats, cattle, sheep, and chickens in a lively open marketplace.
Please Note: If staying in Muscat and wishing to attend the cattle market on Friday, it is necessary to start at 05:30 AM. Please contact us after booking or mention it in the special request form, and we will respond accordingly.

Nizwa Fort Oman - Adjacent to the Souq is the Nizwa Fort and castle. The Fort was constructed in 1649, while the Castle dates back to 888. Today, the Fort serves as a museum, offering magnificent views of the ancient town and surrounding mountains. Visitors can explore the impressive Fort and Castle, which feature numerous passages and rooms. The Fort stands as an architectural testament to the economic and military achievements of the early Yaruba dynasty from the mid-17th century. It was a military stronghold designed to withstand even the strongest attacks of the time, with many traps laid along the corridors to deter intruders who might have breached the defenses.
-
Jebel Akhdar - From Nizwa, the tour continues to Jebel Akhdar, known as the “Green Mountain.” It is considered one of the most picturesque areas in Oman and is part of the Hajar Mountain Range. Jebel Akhdar is named for its green terraced gardens surrounding the villages. The journey proceeds to the Saiq Plateau, a place historically accessible only by donkey for hundreds of years. A variety of fruits such as pomegranates, apricots, apples, olives, grapes, roses, peaches, and walnuts are cultivated here. There are intriguing walks in Wadi Bani Habib, Shrejah, Al Ain, and Al Aqur.
-
Birkat Al Mouz Ruins - From Green Mountain, the tour visits Birkat Al Moz, which features a large Falaj system that irrigates date palms and vegetables for numerous orchards. It is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage and Culture site. It is worthwhile to spend some time exploring the old part of the village before returning to Muscat.
