In 968, Dinh Bo Linh proclaimed himself King, establishing Hoa Lu as the capital for 41 years (968 – 1009). The Dinh dynasty, led by King Dinh Tien Hoang, ruled for 12 years, naming the country Dai Co Viet. The Le dynasty, under King Le Dai Hanh, followed for 29 years. In 1010, King Ly Thai To relocated the capital from Hoa Lu to Thang Long, now known as Hanoi, leaving Hoa Lu as the old citadel. Today, two temples stand on the site of the former royal palace, one honoring King Dinh Tien Hoang and the other King Le Dai Hanh. Continue cruising towards Halong Harbor. Enjoy lunch (or brunch) on board and savor the remainder of the boat trip. Disembark at Halong dock, take a short break, and then travel back to Hanoi. Hanoi - Sapa - Cat Cat Village Approx 330km (Meals: L, D)
Cat Cat Village - Between 6:45 and 7:10am, be picked up from your location or hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, board a large bus, and depart for Sapa. At 9:30am, travel along the highway to Lao Cai City, with the first comfort break halfway. At 11:00am, take a second comfort break in Lao Cai City before continuing to Sapa Town. Arrive in Sapa Town at 1:00pm, greeted by the vibrant traditional attire of the H’mong, Dzao, and Tay ethnic groups. Enjoy a welcome drink and itinerary briefing, followed by lunch featuring local Vietnamese dishes. Complete check-in procedures. At 2:30pm, take a short drive to the entrance of Cat Cat Village, home to the Black H’mong ethnic group, located near the base of a deep valley at the foot of Fansipan Peak. A local guide will introduce you to the daily life of the locals. Trek down to the valley bottom to visit the waterfall and the French-built Hydraulic Power Station. Pause for photos at the bridge and waterfall, then walk uphill to meet the bus for the return to Sapa in the afternoon. The trekking distance is approximately 2.5 km and takes about 2 hours. Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van - Hanoi Approx 330km (Meals: B, L)
Y Linh Ho - Between 7:00 and 8:00am, enjoy breakfast at the hotel, check out, and prepare a light pack for trekking (store larger luggage at the hotel). At 8:00am, take a short drive to Y Linh Ho, then trek through rice terraces and along the Muong Hoa Stream to the Black Hmong village of Lao Chai, where you can admire the stunning landscape of the Hoang Lien Son Mountains. Continue to Ta Van Village, home to the Dzay ethnic group. The trekking distance is approximately 9 km and takes about 3.5 hours. At 11:30am, a bus will pick you up at Ta Van Bridge to return to Sapa. Enjoy lunch at the hotel between 12:30 and 1:30pm. Relax and enjoy leisure time, with the option to shower in the hotel’s public bathroom. At 2:45pm, meet all group members at the hotel to prepare for the return to Hanoi. Depart for Hanoi at 3:30pm, with two comfort breaks along the way. Arrive in Hanoi at 8:45pm, where you will be dropped off at your location or hotel.
