Further along, pass by the Small Crater southeast to reach an altitude of 2100 meters, where you can admire the BUTTON CRATERS. These craters are named for their unique shape, formed during these eruptions, and their lava is notable for containing sedimentary rock inclusions. After visiting the aforementioned craters, descend a fun volcanic sand slope, passing by the Calcarazzi Craters, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Ionian Coast. Return to the starting point.

Beginning at the meeting point “La Baita” at approximately 1900 meters, participants will traverse the lava flows from the eruptions of 2001, 2002, and 2003. These eruptions partially destroyed the existing tourist infrastructure on the southern side of the Volcano and posed a threat to the town of Nicolosi. As the journey continues, visitors will explore the “ABYSS,” a cave where ancestors attempted to preserve snow. Further along, the path leads past the Small Crater southeast, reaching an altitude of 2100 meters, where the BUTTON CRATERS can be admired, named for their unique shape. Following the visit to these Craters, there is a fun descent down volcanic sand, offering a magnificent view of the Ionian Coast.
