A really special tour - A very well organized tour, I felt very privileged to have the opportunity to learn about Kibera and I felt that this tour was a very honest experience for the people who live here. Thank you so much for sharing this with me

Three of the best spent hours! - I had some time to spare and decided to take a tour. I had no idea what to expect. This tour was eye opening. Lucas is the school administrator; more about this later. Elijah was our guide. When not guiding, he's a boda boda rider. We were guided through the market selling recycled clothes. We were shown the machinery area where things are made. Then we were shown how lovely jewelry is made from thrown away items and animal bones. We visited the woman's group originally setup to support HIV infected women. They make the most beautiful jewelry from paper. We were invited into Elijah's home and later invited into his mother's home. We were shown (inadequate) sanitation provisions and told about the history. Lastly we visited the school with wonderful young children. The tour is setup to finance the school and it was wonderful to see proceeds from the tour going to such a good cause. Although there were opportunities to buy products, the vendors were not pushy at all. One vendor had sculpted wonderful unique items out of scrap metal. If you have three hours to spare in Nairobi, spend them here!

Kibera Slum - best experience - If you're in Kenya, don't miss a visit to the Kibera slum; it's something you won't regret, as you'll get a firsthand look at the lives of the people who live there. Thanks to Lucas and his sister Effie for making this possible. I'm returning to Ecuador delighted by everything I learned and the family's warmth. It's a long walk, but by the end you don't feel tired!!

Authentic, safe, and socially responsible. - Excellent experience with Lucas! We did the Nairobi NP drive and Kibera tour in one day. I traveled solo and felt 100% safe the entire time. The National Park drive was great; Lucas was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting facts about the animals we saw.
However, the Kibera tour was the highlight. Lucas lives there, giving the experience an incredibly authentic feel. Most importantly, this tour has a deeper impact—part of the cost goes directly to a local school that Lucas supports. We visited the classroom to see the kids learning, which was very moving. If you want a safe, interesting, and socially responsible tour, book with Lucas!

Great tour of Kibera - We had a wonderful experience touring Kibera with Effie! (Not sure if that's how she spells her name.) It was a perfect amount of walking and visiting sites for us. Lots of great information about what life is like in Kibera, the history of the place, the layout, etc. We loved seeing the market, the school, a private home, etc. Effie was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Kibera is a vibrant place and very interesting to visit. This was a real highlight of our trip!

Amazing, eye opening experience that showcased the economic challenges of Kibera but also the amazing sense of community and fam - This tour met and exceeded all expectations. Our guide, Elijah, grew up in the neighborhood and gave us a real inside view of life in the Kibera Slum. Revenue from the tours helps fund a school, which we visited, that provides both breakfast and lunch for the kids. We also visited a Women's Empowerment collective, that helps women develop economic self-sufficiency. It was Sunday when we went on the tour and probably our most favorite element were the church services going on throughout Kibera, in small one room churches. We joined in one of the services with dancing and singing. Such Joy! Thank you to Elijah for all of his efforts.

Must do when visiting Nairobi - I can probably say that this was the most impactful walking tour I’ve ever done. Through this you’re going to get to experience an area that you would never have access to without the incredible people who put on this walk. I think it is so important for everyone to see this area, including crafts people and a school visit. Highly recommend for anyone who likes to walk a bit. Thank you Effie!

Best Tour you can go on in Nairobi!! - This was an incredible tour! The people of Kibera are some of the nicest, most hardworking, most entrepreneurial, and most welcoming people you will ever meet. If you go on a tour with Elias or Lucas you will have an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide. It is evident they care deeply about their community deeply involved with the creation of a school to inspire the next generation in Kibera. They know Kibera better than anyone and you meet everyone from their friends from growing up, their children, their neighbors, to their parents. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. It was amazing to see a glimpse into what life looked like in Kibera. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone.
