• Waikato Region - Leaving Auckland, the journey heads south through the breathtaking Waikato countryside, renowned as the largest farming area globally. After exploring some local history, there is a stop in the charming town of Pirongia for a quick coffee break. The adventure continues through Otorohanga, known as “The Kiwiana capital of New Zealand,” where visitors can experience all things Kiwi in this unique and delightful town.
• Waitomo Caves - Upon reaching the first major attraction, guests will be guided through the ancient and awe-inspiring caves, observing various cave formations such as Stalactites, Stalagmites, and Lime Columns. • Hobbiton Movie Set - At the second major attraction, Hobbiton, there is time to purchase lunch before boarding one of the iconic green Hobbiton buses. Guests embark on a two and a half hour fully guided tour of the impressive 12-acre movie set with a professional Hobbiton guide, ensuring a memorable visit. During the tour, visitors can explore the lush pastures of the Shire, visit 44 hobbit holes, admire stunning gardens, learn secrets and stories about the film’s production, and enjoy a complimentary cold beverage at the renowned Hobbiton pub, ‘The Green Dragon Inn’.
• Tirau - The journey continues towards Rotorua, passing through Tirau, famously known as the ‘Corrugated Iron Capital of the World’ due to its numerous unique corrugated iron sculptures and buildings. This town always provides a sight and a laugh, with guides highlighting all the main attractions along the way.
• Rotorua - Concluding the formal part of the tour’s first day, the group arrives in Rotorua for a brief guided driving tour, showcasing the city’s most famous sites, including Lake Rotorua, Rotorua Museum, Government Gardens, Whangapipiro (Rachel Spring), and the Blue Baths. Guests are then dropped off at their hotel to check in for the night (accommodation not included).
