Explore the intriguing tale of New York City’s waste and rodents with a family photo scavenger hunt! This engaging activity is perfect for families with children aged 6 to 17.

During this scavenger hunt, groups of up to five people (including at least one adult) are provided with an instant camera and film for up to 20 photos. Each group has one hour to locate items related to garbage or rats in New York City and capture them in a photo. Points are awarded for each photo taken. Some items are more challenging to find, so feel free to use your phone for quick research. The team with the highest score is declared the Rat King. All participating children receive the same prize.

• No prior knowledge is required; just bring your curiosity and wear comfortable shoes!
• Hunts are guided by an in-person host (and her “rat” assistants) who are available to answer questions and provide assistance.
• The aim is to have fun while learning about New York’s most unsavory topics. This is why all children receive the same prize at the end.
