Overall this is a really fun trip and my group comes every year. The new River route was fantastic - we enjoyed spending more time on the River and it was much more picturesque.
There is some feedback I have about Kittatiney, which I know is a separate company, but may be worth passing along:
- The purple flags at the take-out point are nearly invisible. I’m still not sure where they are; we were able to identify the get out point because others were on shore in that area. Investing in more visible signage could help.
- Kittatinney sells blow up coolers, which are too wide to fit on the bus that takes you to the River point. I hope that Kittatinney can stock up on coolers that fit with their transportation, to make this a much easier process for the future.
Additionally, for Sourced Adventures, I didn’t mind the new post-River venue, but the food was not great. I would have rather purchased food from the BBQ place for an added cost. The food is hit or miss every year; there’s got to be a better option out there.

Completely inefficient. Not as marketed.

2 out of the 5 tubes deflated during the trip downriver with a third barely making it to the end. One of the kayaking leaders had a spare, but when the second tube went flat the male leader was like "Oh hm... let me sort that out." Kayaked ahead and never saw him again. This was only around halfway through the float, leaving one of our party without a tube for maybe the most intense part of the river's rapids. Also the food at the end was elementary school cafeteria quality burgers and hot dogs. The only side (pasta salad) was inedible. Also, "Cedar Rapids Bar & Grill" which is advertised at the end location doesn't sell drinks or even allow you to drink your own on the premises at the "restaurant." $150 gets you a bus ride to to river, a 3-in-5 chance of a faulty tube and around $3-worth of terrible, terrible food. You'd be better off pooling money with friends to rent a car and a cabin nearby the river. Would probably cost you less in the long run depending on group size.
