The journey starts with a friendly welcome and a casual icebreaker. An award-winning baker will then teach you the traditional rope-and-loop rolling technique, which you’ll soon apply by crafting at least six bagels from scratch.
Following this, you’ll observe a dough-making demonstration that unveils the essential components of a perfect bagel. You’ll also learn how boiling and seeding contribute to the unique texture and flavor of a New York bagel, performing each step under the guidance of your instructor.
During the dough’s resting periods, you’ll get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a bagel shop that produces approximately 10,000 bagels daily. This tour offers a close-up view of commercial bagel-making while your instructor shares the bagel’s history, from its Polish roots to the formation of the Bagel Bakers’ Union and the evolution of the modern New York bagel.
The experience concludes with a group tasting of your freshly baked bagels, accompanied by gourmet spreads, smoked fish, and traditional sides. To finish, enjoy a fun bagel trivia quiz. You’ll leave with at least six bagels, the recipe, and all the knowledge needed to recreate them at home.
