Our tour guide, Beverly, was very nice and clear with her narrative. There was a balance of history and being clear that slavery was/is wrong. I’m thankful that history is preserved in this plantation!
Unfortunately we took a 3:30 tour during the week. That left us no time to explore the gift shop or attend the indigo presentation. Our guide was wonderful and gave us a good idea of the history of this hauntingly beautiful place.
Beautiful tour! The grounds were incredible and the tour was perfect. We also loved the gift shop.
Destrehan Plantation is the 3rd Plantation tour I have taken here in New Orleans. The grounds were absolutely beautiful & the tour was very informative. Our tour guide was wonderful and answered ever question easily! Overall a wonderful experience!
We had a wonderful tour guide who was very knowledgeable, energetic, professional and personable. We loved the grounds, the way they were clearly cared for, and the way history is kept alive for educational purposes. The gift shop was full of treasures and many one of a kind items - not a typical tourist trap or tchotchkes.
The plantation is well maintained, they do a very good job at resembling life in the plantation. Judy was an excellent tour guide, knowledgeable, friendly and very personable. We had a demonstration on how house materials were made, overall very wonderful experience!
I had no expectation coming in; I had never done a plantation tour before. It was typical of tours through places like Mount Vernon and other historical homes. Evelyn was delightful.
Our tour guide was very sweet and knowledgeable- she made the experience!
Great tour and beautiful Plantation! We loved hearing about the history.
Our tour guide was extremely accommodating. She gave my son additional information since we were there for a school project.
Our guide was very knowledgeable. Great experience!
We had been recommended to visit and when we did get there we were greeted by wonderful staff in the booking office. Fran our guide was fabulous and very informed and engaged he involved us in every aspect of the tour. Whilst the tour of the Plantation House was lovely we do feel that more could have been explained and explored about the workers at the Plantation. Without the work force of slaves the Plantation would not have been prosperous.
