Overall a good experience - Our bus driver, Robert, was very knowledgeable and friendly. He did a great job explaining how the day was going to go and gave us extra info along the way. I appreciated the information provided by the Whitney Plantation. I do wish we had a tour guide instead of the handset they offered. There were people located in different areas if you had any questions.

The inside, read in part... - The inside, read in part was balanced and very informative. We were taken aback at how dilapidated the owners have allowed the big house to become. The focus of the entire tour is slave focused rather than the entire plantation experience, which is washing history and coloring it.

We chose this to pay our respects - We didn’t want to visit a plantation that would romanticise history or make money from the past, hence why we chose Witney. This plantation tells the story of slavery and it is well worth a visit. The tour gave us exactly the right amount of time here. Great bus, knowledgeable driver and an interesting drive out of New Orleans, seeing the bayou and the interesting flora of the area.

Awesome Family Field Trip! - Must visit if you want an authentic experience and understanding of plantation life - from the slaves perspective. This is a living museum that truly focuses on telling the truth. The self-guided tour is excellent. We chose this one, so we could move at our own pace. However, several guided tours were taking place concurrently, and we couldn't help but hear some of the amazing stories and anecdotes told by the guides. You can't miss with that route either. And, guided tours got a glimpse of the UPSTAIRS portion of the Big House.
