Hijinks, history, and heathenry in the French Quarter - 7 hours ago New One of my favorite ways to enjoy a new-to-me city is to take a haunted history tour. Chicago, San Diego, Baltimore, Grass Valley, Virginia City, and Boston. I’ve done four in New Orleans so far, and I can say with certainty that tonight’s True Crime tour with Doug was one of the best I’ve had the privilege to attend. Doug’s acting skills gave the tales of the darker history of New Orleans a fun boost of energy. Most of the stories we heard were ones I hadn’t heard previously, and I look forward to taking some of Doug’s additional tours in the future (when it’s not summer. My California weather wimp ways are showing). If you are a true crime history buff, or want to hear well-researched tales that are more than “they say…” kind of yarns, check out Doug on the Hottest Hell Tours!

Disturbingly entertaining - Ricardo is an amazing storyteller. He is quick-witted and incredibly knowledgeable about the history and stories of the local area. He is engaging, giving all the details while knowing how to read a crowd. If you are looking for a great tour this is a GREAT choice.

BYO Gris-Gris! History, horror and shivers with enhanced Hottest Hell tour! - We took an enhanced version of this really cool tour and had a fantastic experience! I believe it was Waking the Devil's Empire with a great tour guide Jeremy. He had a small projector to show us historical slides of who/what/where at different stops. Really heightened the experience so I wasn't busy Googling people and looking at my phone half the time. It was a lot of historical information and local lore but he told the stories in an order that made it all come together throughout. I appreciate the references to movie/tv locations and celebrity owners of buildings. He also gave advice for local haunts & supernatural customs to explore beyond the tour. Jeremy knew his stuff, wasn’t looking at notes, or the phone for prompts, and answered even the silliest questions after each stops presentation. Kept it serious but with some dark humor. While this is not a ghost hunting experience, I brought an EMF detector and ohhhh did some of those spots pop! IYKYK There's a reason folks stay across the street at a few locations. Specifically important to me, I have hearing issues, but was still able to understand everything Jeremy was telling us, even with the street noise. Souvenir business/tarot card also a very very nice touch. Can’t wait to go back and try the Garden District Anne Rice/True Crime tour on our next visit. PROS- Very personable and well-spoken tour guide Well-paced with a bathroom break and time for questions after. Good for both believers and non-believers. Excellent visuals. A bit graphic and gory. CONS- So many tours on the streets at once, it was hard to get a spot right in front of Marie Laveau’s house. Maybe mid-week would be better rather than busy Friday night. Not super ADA accessible if you need that, not a ton of walking but standing for extended periods of time. A bit graphic and gory, lol, not for faint of heart.

Murder and Mayhem Without the Melodrama - Selby, our tour guide was excellent! Informative and captivating without being overly-dramatic like some of the guides we saw that night. She was able to keep our attention despite the distractions in the French Quarter on a Saturday night. Great website, too. Lots of information.

Dim Corner tour - We did the Dim Corner tour with Jon as our guide, and it was so interesting! This is more of a grisly, true crime tour, so if you're more into that kind of history than the supernatural stuff, this will be up your alley. Or in your corner, I guess. Jon was a great guide and storyteller. He even took us to his favorite bar when we needed a break from walking and had a lot of great recommendations for New Orleans!
