Highlights
  • 523 St Ann St. - I found my success as a guide, with a belief that the best tours are craft, even a bit of art. Let me help you connect with the great city of New Orleans, by sharing tales of old and examining its drinking legacy. We’ll walk cobbled alleys, and listen to ghost stories as classic as the libations you’ll be sipping upon.

I’ve created an evening of documented ghosts, city history, drinking yarns, and Voodoo. I’ll tie it all together into a cohesive experience of chills, laughs, and must-have drink suggestions. This is still well-researched history, but made fun. Let me save you from the dull recitation of New Orleans’ bullet points: I put on a show.

There will be no capes, no blurry photos, and no vampire tales. I use stories that are historically sourced – which makes this tour far more frightening.

By using actual stories, from the cultures that created this city, you will begin to unravel what makes New Orleans so special.

The tour is designed for the curious, people who wish to understand the places they visit and share drinks with fellow travelers. Don’t confuse this with the party-crawls. This is a professional drinking event - a genuinely full tour.

What's Included
  • Well-researched stories and history
  • Sourced from New Orleans
What's Not Included
  • Gratuities for bartenders are common
  • Drinks are not included, the average price for the suggested drinks will hover from 8 to 15 dollars per drink. Drink at your own pace, you are not required to purchase anything, please pace yourself!
Additional Information

I’ve served more pub crawls, by far, than any guide in New Orleans. This provides me preferential, or exclusive, access to select venues that will help aid the tour’s narrative and propel our exploration of New Orleans’ cocktail/ghost history. This tour pays for itself, once you know the places I sip. Between bars, we walk to haunted/historical locations unveiling the culture, history, architecture, and the city’s terrifying past.

  • This tour covers dark history, and guests enduring certain types of trauma, or recent tragedy, may find some of the content discomforting. Please do not hesitate to inquire with any concerns.

Great guide. Great tour. Small group. - John puts a lot of energy into his tour and takes his craft seriously. This was a great small tour. Heard a few ghost stories, learned some history, and visited a few bars I wouldn't have otherwise discovered. This is a nice-sized tour. We could hear everything and interacted with others in the group.

A Hauntingly Good Time in the French Quarter - If you're looking for a unique way to explore the city and delve into its rich history this tour is an absolute must! John was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the city’s haunted past but also a fantastic storyteller. He brought to life the eerie tales of ghosts that lurk in the French Quarter. What set this tour apart was the perfect balance between spooky, historical, and cocktails. It is obvious that John is passionate about his work, as every story was meticulously researched and enthusiastically conveyed. We did a private tour, for a bachelorette, making it easy to ask questions and engage with John. Overall, this tour was a fantastic way to see a different side of New Orleans. Highly recommend!

Ghost stories, city history, AND some of the best drinks NOLA has to offer !! - John's cocktail & ghost story crawl is a fantastic way to spend an evening in New Orleans. Highly highly highly recommend this tour. John really knows his stuff - I booked this for a bachelorette, it was such a fantastic blend of well researched, historic ghost stories and fantastic cocktails (who knew absinthe was so good , plus we went to an industry bar which had some of the best/affordable drinks ever, they even make their own sodas and syrups). Seriously the drinks were fantastic and very unique, hand selected because they are tied to the city. John was very thoughtful as well, I had a special drink request for the bride and he helped make it happen. Way better than any of the larger company tours I’ve tried. Plus John was just a really cool guy, spent time with us afterwards talking about Nola & sharing ideas for our trip. Don’t hesitate to book a tour!
