Its world-renowned canopy of oak trees and gardens filled with hibiscuses, crepe myrtles, and angel trumpets make it one of New Orleans’ most picturesque neighborhoods.   City Park is as magical and unique as the city of New Orleans itself. This 1,300-acre outdoor haven has captivated New Orleanians since 1854, making it one of the nation’s oldest urban parks. The highlight of City Park is the world’s largest collection of mature southern live oaks, including a Grand Oak that is over 800 years old. These remarkable trees are known for their distinctive sculptural shapes, with some of the oldest having limbs twice as long as the tree is tall.

• Metairie Cemetery - Metairie Cemetery - Established in 1872
  Recognized as one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the country, Metairie Cemetery was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Its oval shape harks back to its origins as a race track. It became a cemetery after the Civil War in 1872 and is the final resting place for over 9,000 individuals.

Spanning over 130 acres, it features more than 10,000 above-ground multi-million dollar family tombs of New Orleans’ most notable figures, including Al Copeland (founder of Popeyes Fried Chicken), Ruth Fertel (founder of Ruth’s Chris Steak House), Tom Benson (owner of the New Orleans Saints), Anne Rice (vampire novelist), P.G.T. Beauregard (Civil War general), Kings of Carnival, and the Weeping Angel Statue.
