• Backstreet Cultural Museum - Visitors will explore one of Treme’s cultural museums and experience the New Orleans Black Mardi traditions. They will gain insight into the heritage and stories of the Black Mardi Gras Indians. This activity is optional, and the museum ticket is not included in the tour price. The museum entry fee is $25.00, with potential discounts for Senior Citizens.
• Congo Square - Guests will visit the revered grounds of Congo Square, where indigenous, enslaved, and free people of color would gather on Sundays for the market. The market featured drumming, dancing, singing, and the sale of goods, among other activities. Join us to hear the tales of the spirits that safeguarded these sacred grounds.
• Treme - Participants will wander through the Creole and Sicilian neighborhoods, observing Creole cottages and townhouses, and viewing the oldest Creole Mansion still standing in New Orleans, located in the Treme neighborhood.

The Historical Treme Walking tour offers an insight into the African American past in New Orleans, allowing our visitors to learn about and appreciate the Free People of Color who resided and flourished in the area, as well as the Italians who were also part of this historical neighborhood. The traditions, history, culture, and heritage showcased in this locale sets it apart from other places in the United States.
