Next, you’ll prepare stuffed vegetables and stuffed grape leaves (dolmades).
Then we will learn how to make kalitsounia.We use our rolling pins to roll out the dough for that!
Appetizers are prepared last but enjoyed first. Tzatziki, Ntakos, and Cretan salad.
Time to eat! Enjoy all of the beautiful traditional Cretan dishes you’ve created with copious amounts of local wine.
Be sure to leave room for dessert. Something sweet and seasonal.

The BEST day you'll spend in Crete! - This was the most amazing experience!
Veerna is funny, friendly & so informative as she guides you through the preparation & cooking of the wonderful Cretan cuisine.
I had my misgivings, at first; how would I cope surrounded by a bunch of strangers from different parts of the globe trying to cook dishes I'd only sampled in restaurants?
Within a very short space of time, those strangers felt like old friends as we combined our various cullinary skills (or lack of them) to produce a truly excellent, rustic banquet.
Veerna & her family keep the drinks & the conversation flowing (in equal measure) & arrange transport to & from their wonderful place in the hills.
I want to balance this review with a few "cons" amidst all the positives. Alas, the only negative was that the time (around 5 hours?) went by far too quickly.

Picturesque Setting and Cozy Vibes - They were super accommodating to dietary needs (I'm vegetarian, and another guest needed gluten-free).
Veerna was warm and funny, and taught us the history behind each dish as we went.
I was also delighted to pet her new puppies - a super joyful surprise!

Delicious Food, Rich History, and Warm Hospitality - We had an unforgettable experience taking a traditional Cretan cooking class here! We learned how to make a “thieves’ dinner” — lamb, herbs, and veggies slow-cooked in a wood-fired oven, inspired by the meals prepared in secret during the Ottoman occupation.
We also made dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), tzatziki, spinach and feta pies, stuffed vegetables, dakos with goat cheese, and sweet goat cheese pies with honey and candied fruit. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful — and the generous pours of homemade wine and raki didn’t hurt!
The whole experience is family-run and very well organized. We not only learned how to make food but also gained a deeper understanding of Cretan culture and history. It's set in a beautiful location, and they even offered a pick-up and drop-off service for us, which was very convenient.
They were thoughtful about dietary needs (I’m gluten-sensitive), and the hospitality was top-notch. We left full and happy. Highly recommend!

Fabulous evening! - A really enjoyable evening learning to cook a traditional Cretan meal in a beautiful rural setting. It is a family business which they clearly pour their heart and soul into and we all had a lot of fun! Everything is provided and we really enjoyed sitting down together as a group to eat dinner afterwards. Highly recommended!

Great class! Highly recommend. - It was a wonderful experience learning to cook traditional Cretan meals. Very friendly and accomodating host. Great atmosphere being surrounded be trees and also a very nice cooking/teaching set up. Highly recommend.

Great experience for family group - Our two families (7 total with 1 teen and 2 college students) attended veerna’s traditional Cretan cooking class. It was the highlight of our trip. Very fun and informative for all ages and Honestly the best seasoned food we had in Crete! We had an awesome time and would highly recommend!

One of our best experiences during our stay in Crete! - We absolutely loved our cooking experience with Veerna and her family! Our children, 16 and 19, also had a great time. Veerna was warm, engaging, funny and we felt like old friends by the time we left! We loved meeting other families too, and all 20 of us seemed to have had a great time. I highly recommend this experience!

Great family/couples experience. - Delightful family business run on a small farm. Prepared a delicious meal. Mom who runs things is very entertaining. I used the transport option, which is run by her son, and was excellent and convenient. It is a nice relaxing activity to break up the more active parts of a vacation.

A delicious way to spend an evening! - This was a 10/10 experience for me and my husband. Veerna led a great class, mixing instruction with history of the dishes, all delivered with a warm sense of humor. The cooking space was beautiful, with olive trees and a lovely garden on the property as well as some chickens, goats and even some puppies in the fenced-off yard space. Everything was delicious and it really felt like we could replicate the dishes at home. She sent the recipes after the fact to facilitate that. It was a really cool way to get a glimpse into Cretan culture and I highly recommend!

A friendly Cretan cooking course! - We had a wonderful time of conviviality during this Cretan cooking course. Everything is done to feel good in a relaxed atmosphere. All the products used are fresh and local, and the meal made with the participants was delicious and original. A few days later, we received all the recipes by message so that we could make them at home. We will definitely return!
