Participants will discover the cultural importance of the “thieves dinner” (kleftiko), which features lamb as the main dish to be prepared. Additionally, guests will learn to make stuffed vegetables and stuffed grape leaves (dolmades).
The experience continues with a lesson on crafting kalitsounia, using rolling pins to prepare the dough.
Appetizers, including Tzatziki, Ntakos, and Cretan salad, are prepared last but savored first.
It’s time to indulge in the delightful traditional Cretan dishes created, accompanied by generous servings of local wine.
Remember to save room for dessert, which will be a sweet and seasonal treat.
The exact location will be provided via email after confirmation. For individual travelers or groups of fewer than 4, please send a message to check availability and join another group. Feel free to inquire about discounts for groups of more than 10.
The duration is 4-5 hours, depending on the number of participants. We offer options to prepare lunch (10:00-14:00) or dinner (16:00-20:00).

Wonderful experience in Crete - Everything about this class was wonderful. The setting is gorgeous. The class is very organized and you truly learn how to make these delicious dishes. Veerna and her family are so welcoming and make you feel right at home. I would highly recommend this class to anyone.

Amazing cooking class! - We had the most amazing time at this cooking class! The hosts were so sweet, fun, and knowledgable. They gave us a great history lesson of the dishes we were cooking, which was nice. The kitchen is covered and outdoors, as well as the tables where we ate. This was so cool and my favorite part that we were outdoors. The food we prepared was amazing and I would highly, highly recommend doing this class! Such a great way to learn about the authentic dishes of Crete and how to prepare them. If you're in Crete, you should come here!!

An Amazing and Fun Experience - I cannot recommend this class enough!! Veerna and family were so incredibly warm and welcoming. The food spectacular. The Raki so good (Yamas!!). And the wine was copious as stated!
I cannot wait to prepare the Thieves Dinner at home with all the delicious sides. Cretan food is the best!
We truly had the greatest time and the 4 hours was well worth it. Not only did we learn to cook, we received a very informative history lesson.
I will definitely be back to Crete and would love to participate in this class again…. just to see and visit these kind people.

Authentic Cretan cooking, warm hospitality, incredible food, and one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. - If you want an authentic taste of Crete beyond the restaurants and tourist spots, this is it. Our cooking class with Veerna’s Kitchen was hands down one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences in my lifetime of travels.
Veerna welcomed us into her home like family and shared not only recipes, but the heart behind Cretan food and culture. The experience was incredibly immersive, personal, and full of storytelling, history, and genuine hospitality.
Over the course of 4 hours, we prepared an incredible spread of authentic dishes including Arni Kleftiko (Thieves’ Dinner), Gemista, Tzatziki, Dakos, and both savory and sweet Kalitsounia. Everything was hands-on and thoughtfully explained, from traditional cooking techniques to the cultural significance behind each dish.
What made this experience special was how warm and intimate it felt. This was not a “demonstration class.” We cooked, learned, laughed, ate together, and truly experienced Cretan hospitality.
As someone who works professionally as a chef, I can say this experience exceeded expectations in every way. The food was phenomenal, the instruction was excellent, and the passion Veerna has for preserving and sharing Cretan cuisine is inspiring.
We also loved being able to purchase some of the ingredients we cooked with afterward, including their olive oil, thyme honey, and fruit spreads, so we could bring a little piece of Crete home with us.
I cannot recommend this experience highly enough.

Fun time with friends! - My friends and I did the 10-2pm cooking class and it was so special! We were feeling a bit rough but loved making all of the different dishes (still thinking about the cheese!) and the excellent hospitality from our hosts. Such lovely and warm people. The olive trees and the cooking space were beautiful. We felt like part of the family. I would definitely recommend them!

If you can only do one activity in Chania, make it this - This is my third trip to Greece, and I can easily say this was my favorite activity I've ever done here. The cooking is fun and informational, there was an abundance of food to eat and it was all delicious. However, what makes this class so special is the family who teaches it. Connecting with them and hearing their stories was something I will cherish forever. By the time I left, I felt like family myself.
They also went out of their way to help me with logistics when I made a mistake with the bus. Just an overall 10/10. Do not miss out on this special evening!
