The international airport’s proximity (15 km) makes it convenient to include a dive trip in Negombo at the start or end of a holiday in Sri Lanka. It’s an excellent “thing to do in Negombo” and a great activity during an extended beach stay in the area. Despite the influx of tourists each year, Negombo’s hidden underwater world remains largely untouched.

Visitors have the opportunity to dive into these waters and experience the vibrant and exotic marine life beneath the surface. This underwater paradise is home to colorful corals, schools of multi-colored fish, and fascinating shipwrecks. The marine life is exceptional: schools of barracuda, trevally, fusiliers, blue stripe snappers, honeycomb moray eels, large schools of goldline, spinetrek, Oriental sweetlips, yellow jack, lobsters, and rays are among the species that can be observed. Notable shipwrecks include the Wreck Chief Dragon, Taprobane wreck, and the 1945 Aircraft carrier wreck.
