Dambulla

Dambulla Cave Temple - Today, we journey into the heart of Sri Lanka to explore its rich history and culture. Our adventure starts at the Dambulla Cave Temple, an extraordinary sanctuary carved into the rock. We’ll then visit the Golden Buddha, a magnificent statue on a hill, overlooking the town. As the day concludes, we’ll relax at our accommodation, offering stunning views of Sigiriya Rock, which we’ll climb tomorrow morning.

Climb Sigiriya Rock

Sigiriya - We start early today to ascend one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks - Lion Rock (locally known as Sigiriya Rock). This UNESCO World Heritage site is a massive rock formation nearly 700ft tall, an ancient fortress with breathtaking views from the top; the climb is truly rewarding. We’ll return to our hotel for breakfast, then explore the town in the afternoon.

Sigiriya Craft Village - In the evening, we’ll visit a local farming village for an authentic Sri Lankan meal around a bonfire, prepared by the villagers.

Kandy

Kandy - Today, we travel to Kandy to visit the Temple of the Tooth. Located in the royal palace complex, the relic has historically played a significant role in local politics, as it is believed that whoever possesses the relic governs the country. We’ll learn about this fascinating story before enjoying a stunning sunset over Kandy Lake from our hotel on the mountainside.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya - We drive through the picturesque town of Nuwara Eliya and spend the morning at a local tea plantation, learning about the tea brewing process from leaf to cup. We’ll then visit a family-run cooking school to learn how to prepare some of Sri Lanka’s finest dishes. Afterwards, it’s time to board ‘the most scenic train journey’ to the laid-back town of Ella. The scenery along the way is breathtaking; watch for waterfalls, wildlife, and friendly locals.

Climb Little Adams Peak & Nine Arch Bridge

Little Adam’s Peak View Point - We start early to climb Little Adams Peak for a spectacular view of Ella Gap, a gorge filled with beautiful waterfalls and stunning landscapes. We’ll have lunch in Ella town, then visit Nine Arch Bridge, where we’ll walk the tracks and watch the train pass through.

Waterfall & Elephant Orphanage

Udawalawa Elephant Orphanage - In the morning, we’ll visit a waterfall for a refreshing swim, then head to Udawalawe National Park. Here, we’ll check into our glamping tents for the evening, with plenty of activities to enjoy. We’ll then take a Jeep to the Elephant Orphanage to see how they care for the wild elephants in the area.

Safari

Udawalawe National Park - As the sun rises, we embark on a Safari jeep tour to see the local wildlife, including elephants, monkeys, buffalos, and flamingos, among others. We’ll have breakfast by the river before heading to our final destination, the beachside town of Unawatuna.

Jungle Beach

Jungle Beach - Enjoy a leisurely day, relaxing by the pool, then join us for a walk through the jungle to the beach on the other side. We’ll return to the hotel to freshen up before heading to the beach once more for our farewell dinner.
