Day 02- Anuradhapura City
Anuradhapura - Anuradhapura, one of the ancient capitals, is the first stop on your Cultural Triangle Tour. This sacred city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, rich with stories waiting to be discovered. Mihintale is the first historical site you visit as part of your Cultural Triangle Tour. The challenging climb to Mihintale is well worth it, offering a breathtaking panorama and refreshing winds. Ruwanweliseya, Twin Baths (Kuttam Pokuna), and Ritigala Forest Monastery are stunning examples of ancient architecture. Although your journey in Sri Lanka has just begun, you are already capturing every moment.
Mihintale - Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa, marking the introduction of Buddhism in Sri Lanka.
Ruwanwelisaya - The Ruwanweli Maha Seya, also known as the Mahathupa, is a stupa in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. It enshrines two quarts or one Dona of the Buddha’s relics, making it the largest collection of his relics anywhere.
Twin Baths (Kuttam Pokuna) - Kuttam Pokuna (twin ponds or pools) are well-preserved ancient bathing tanks or ponds in Sri Lanka. Built by the Sinhalese in the ancient Anuradhapura Kingdom, they are part of the Abhayagiri vihāra complex and exemplify the ancient Sinhalese’s expertise in hydrological engineering, architecture, and art.
Day 03- Polonnaruwa City
Polonnaruwa - Discover more about the rich history of Polonnaruwa, the second city on our Cultural Triangle Tour. Welcome to the city that once held a kingdom and now preserves some of the world’s finest ancient artifacts. You will visit the Polonnaruwa Vatadage, the archaeological museum, the Royal Palace of King Parakramabahu, and many other well-preserved historical buildings. The meticulous attention to detail in each of these remains is astounding. Afterwards, you will visit Parakrama Samudraya, a water reservoir with five lakes, a popular tourist destination in royal Sri Lanka. Spend the evening beside one of these lakes, surrounded by lush landscapes – a moment to cherish!
Gal Vihara - The Gal Vihara, originally known as the Uttararama, is a rock temple of the Buddha located in the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Polonnaruwa, now present-day Polonnaruwa, in North Central Province, Sri Lanka. It was created in the 12th century by King Parakramabahu I.
Samudra Parakrama - Parakrama Samudra is a shallow reservoir, consisting of five separate wewa connected by narrow channels in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. The northernmost reservoir is the oldest and referred to as Topa wewa, built around 386 AD.
Day 04-Sigiriya
Sigiriya - Day 4 of this tour begins with one of Sri Lanka’s most visited attractions. Sigiriya is a must-visit destination for locals, which is why it is included in your Sri Lanka itinerary. Due to local recommendations, you alternate the climb to the Sigiriya rock by hiking through the Pidurangala rock. Upon reaching the cliff, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Sigiriya rock surrounded by dense forest, beautiful water streams, and a perfect breeze. This golden land is also home to the stunning ‘Royal Gardens,’ one of the oldest gardens in the world. Conclude the day with a jeep safari to one of the national parks, where you will see a variety of animals.
Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - Sigiriya or Sinhagiri is an ancient rock fortress located in the northern Matale District near the town of Dambulla in the Central Province, Sri Lanka. It is a site of historical and archaeological significance, dominated by a massive column of rock approximately 180 m high.
Sigiriya Museum - The museum in Sigiriya is renowned as the most attractive in South Asia, managed by the Central Cultural Fund. Sigiriya Museum showcases its cultural, technological, and archaeological value. Three decades of archaeological research on Sigiriya, the famous UNESCO World Heritage site, can be explored at the Sigiriya Museum.
Minneriya National Park - Minneriya tank is a reservoir in Sri Lanka created by an ancient civilization, the Anuradhapura Kingdom. King Mahasena ordered a dam to be built across the Minneriya River, forming the lake. The tank covers 4,670 acres. The Minneriya Tank was constructed by the great tank builder, King Mahasen, who ruled in Anuradhapura.
Day 05-Dambulla

Golden Temple of Dambulla - Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, located in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 kilometers east of Colombo, 72 kilometers north of Kandy, and 43 km north of Matale.
Day 06-Kandy
Kandy Lake - The following day, after breakfast, you will travel to Kandy after visiting the nearby Dambulla Cave Temple. You will arrive in Kandy after a journey of more than three hours, with a stop at the Ayurvedic Herbal Gardens. In Kandy, visit the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a cultural dance activity before checking into the hotel on day 6 of your itinerary.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, or Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the Buddha’s tooth.
Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show - The Kandy Lake Club Cultural Dance Show is an exhilarating Sri Lankan Arts, Dance & Cultural Heritage Show that is a must-see for any visitor to the historic city of Kandy. The Kandy Lake Club Dance began in 1982 with the aim of showcasing a cultural dance performance that brings together all Sri Lankan dance types on one platform. It is the first Cultural Dance Show of its kind to be established in Sri Lanka and has become a tourist attraction for many visitors interested in experiencing the country’s rich cultural heritage. It has been performed continuously for the last 35 years.
Ranweli Spice Garden - Matale is located between Kandy and Dambulla on the A–9 road, a short distance from Matale town, near the Aluviharaya cave temple. The Ranwali spice garden is situated by the roadside, attracting visitors with its eco-friendly garden featuring large trees and small plants. The nursery beds are neatly arranged with coconut husks piled up in rows, creating a fascinating sight. The nursery is open for demonstrations, showcasing plants such as turmeric, vanilla, cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg trees, along with many medicinal plants. Visitors can observe all the nursery techniques, purchase spices and herbal medicine, and enjoy a free head massage, spice tea with vanilla, hot chocolate drink, and, upon request, a cookery demonstration.
Day 07 – Colombo/Airport
Colombo - On day 7, after breakfast, depart for the bustling city of Colombo. You will enjoy a sightseeing tour of Colombo, visiting locations such as Independence Square, Galle Face Green, the Old Parliament Building, and the Gangarama Temple. This city tour is possible if your next departure is in the afternoon or, ideally, in the evening. The airport is approximately an hour’s drive from Colombo.
Gangaramaya (Vihara) Buddhist Temple - Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most significant temples in Colombo, Sri Lanka, blending modern architecture with cultural essence. Located on the Beira Lake, it was completed in the late 19th century.
Galle Face Beach - A pleasant stretch of beachfront to stroll along. In the early evening, around 5 pm onwards, vendors set up, offering a variety of street food snacks.
