Geragama Tea Factory - Centrally located between Colombo and the tea-growing regions, Kandy became synonymous with tea production during British rule. As the second-largest city in Sri Lanka, Kandy was a natural choice for the administrative capital of the tea region, supported by the British-built railway network. By the late 19th century, Kandy was popular with tea planters and their families, leading to the construction of grand hotels like Hotel Suisse and Queen’s Hotel. Tea production has continued to attract tourists to Kandy for over two centuries. A visit to the Kadugannawa tea factory, a short drive from Kandy, offers insights into tea cultivation, production, and distribution.

Galle Fort - Located in the Bay of Galle on Sri Lanka’s southwest coast, Galle Fort was initially built by the Portuguese in 1588 and extensively fortified by the Dutch from 1649 onwards.

This ancient group, which includes turtles, tortoises, and terrapins, first evolved over 220 million years ago during the Triassic Era.
