- Sigiriya - Sigiriya rock fortress is the most visited tourist attraction in Sri Lanka. It is sometimes known as the Sigiriya Lion Rock, after its original name “Sinha-Giri”. The name comes from its palace entrance through a massive brick sculpture of a lion head. Only the paws of this sculpture remain at the foot of the rock today. Sigiriya rock fortress is a fifth-century fortified palace complex, which was used by King Kassapa (477CE-493CE). The Sigiriya rock abruptly rises 600 feet high from the surrounding plains. The ruins of King Kassapa’s royal palace are scattered on the peak rock plateau. The hike to the top is via 1200 steps. Some of them were constructed at the time of King Kassapa. The foothills and immediate surroundings of the Sigiriya rock were once an elaborate royal pleasure garden. The archaeological value of the site is immeasurable, perhaps unsurpassed in South Asia.
- Dambulla - Dambulla golden rock cave temple was home to thousands of meditating monks since its monastic beginnings in the first century BCE. Today the same cave temple hosts a massive collection of Buddhist murals and sculptures belonging to a pan-Asian artistic tradition. The cave temple was abandoned at regular intervals since its humble beginnings. Yet the royals and Buddhist elite kept renovating it to appease countless faithful pilgrims.

Great day trip - Nice day trip from Negombo! I was a little nervous about traveling alone— but really didn’t need to be! There was good communication between both the company and my guide, Nuwan, and myself via email and then WhatsApp.
My guide arrive on time at 6:00am from Negombo. He introduced himself and welcomed me. As we drove, we chatted. When we got there Sigiriya, he picked up ticket and arranged to meet at a particular point while he parked the car. I was a little confused as to where we would meet— but we got that straight quickly.
Nuwan allowed me to explore at my own pace and answered all my questions.
When you arrive at each place Sirigiya and Dambulla there are site tour guides who will approach you and ask if you want them to accompany you and tell you about the site. I didn’t do that because I thought Nuwan was going to play that role— He did and didn’t. He answered my questions but didn’t really play the tour guide role — namely, where they guide you through the site describing things as you see them. I had read about each place prior to visiting so that worked out for me— but if you want the tour guide approach— I suggest hiring one of these people— they were pretty inexpensive if remember correctly.

Fun tour - Super nice surroundings at the lion rock the climb can indeed be spicy. The temple we expected more of. Was smaller than expected and were quickly outside again. The driver is the driver and not the guide. And as a driver he did a super good job! Lunch was also very good. So all in all worth a neat 5 stars considering the complete picture

An impressive trip with driver Chanike - The whole journey is smooth and fruitful. The driver, Chanike is helpful and recommended some places to go to us. The Sigiriya lion rock is impressive. You can have 360 degree view and more importantly, there are some wildlife you can look at. 100% recommend to visit the herb garden as well where the tour guide will introduce the useage of different herb to you. However, it is not recommended to the elderly and very small children as the traveling time is really too long and the hiking may be tough for them.

Awesome view!! - Both sigiriya and dambulla temple are must visit places. Sigiriya has the most stunning view from the top. And so as dambulla. We started very early in the day because of the long ride. Driver picked up at the time and he was very courteous. He even bought us snacks during the tour. Most enjoyed part of the tours was climbing the sigiriya. Climbing the rock was never easy but well worth to see the stunning view from the top. Other part was the dambulla temple and it frescos. We wont regret about this tour well organized and well worth.

The most amazing sites to visit - This is a fabulous day out to see sigiriya and dambulla in the heart of Sri Lanka's cultural triangle. Sigiriya is known as for its ancient value, the gardens and fresco paintings. You should visit the museum at the bottom to get an idea of the layout. Then you can start climbing. There were many steps including metal staircase. The views from the top are amazing as the majority of the area is flat around the rock. It took about 2 hours to explore the whole site. Then we had our lunch from a restaurant nearby. Our next visit was dambulla cave temple. The five very large caves were carved into hard rock over 2000 years ago. If you are interested in Buddhism this place is worth a visit. The whole experience was well worth.

Ancient Kingdom - Visiting and climbing the Sigiriya Rock is a must. This was our second time climbing the rock has done it two years ago. I would definitely recommend having a guide as it really brought the rock to life. Sigiriya is an amazing place and every step is worth the effort. We did not find any of the steps too steep and the views at the top were breathtaking.
In the evening we visited Dambulla cave temple. Beautiful frescoes cover the walls of the temple and the statues are impressive as well. The big Buddha’s statue at the entrance is wonderful. This tour worth 5 stars for sure.

The badest experience ever!!! - First of all, we tried three days before our tour to contact with the agency and they did'nt answer at all. We asked if everything was ok and NO answer. At the main day , we were waiting at the hotel on 6am and nothing happend. We waited fir an hour and no one called or sent an email. With the help from the hotel workers we made a call and they said the car was broken , they had to change , they come in half an hour. Nothing happend. Than they sent an email, the driver was at the hospital because he got sick. After that they wrote the driver is in a bad trafic, eöwe have to wait. After over 2 hours they picked us up with a private taxi. This driver did'nt know exactly what to do. He called all the time the agency to ask. Anyway, our experience was not what we were lookin forward. We lost time from our holidays and paid for a tour that was not correct with the charges. For us , it was the worst tour we ever had.
We wait for an answer, because we send 3 o 4 times email to Support Viator and they never answered.
We hope at least that we the charge or a part of it back. It was for us not worth. 242 Euros did'nt correspond this bad experience.
