- Pinnawala Ape Gama - A theme park, representing an ancient Sri Lankan village named “Ape Gama,” was recently inaugurated at Pinnawala, Rambukkana, near the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and the newly opened Pinnawala Zoo.
Ape Gama, launched by the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council at a cost of Rs 50 million, is now open to both local and international tourists.
The theme park was developed on a four-acre site near the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Zoo by the Ma-Oya River. It represents the social and cultural background, economic conditions, agriculture, religious and spiritual status, and much more of the ancestors who lived in ancient times.
- Royal Botanical Gardens - The Peradeniya Botanical Garden attracts 2 million visitors annually. It is located near the Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lanka, and is famous for its orchid collection. The garden features over 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal plants, and palm trees. It is also home to the National Herbarium of Sri Lanka. The botanical garden covers a total area of 147 acres (0.59 km2), is situated at 460 meters above sea level, and receives 200 days of annual rainfall. It is managed by the Division of National Botanic Gardens of the Department of Agriculture.
