Negambo

Negombo Beach - After visiting the Negombo Lagoon, head to Negombo Beach. Discover the public beach and local market, a hub for shopping and entertainment. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings here as well.
Secondary Fish Market - Following your visit to Negombo Beach, explore the Secondary Fish Market, locally known as Lellama (Lel-La-Ma). It is the country’s second-largest fish market, located at the north end of the Negombo Lagoon, visible from the Munnakare Bridge. Around 4,000 boats set out to sea from here daily. The market is bustling from 3:30 am, with vendors selling and negotiating over fish throughout the day.
Sigiriya
Lion Rock - After arriving in Sigiriya from Negambo, your first stop should be Sigiri Lion Rock. Here, you can explore the ruins of an upper palace on the rock’s flat top, a mid-level terrace with the Lion Gate and mirror wall adorned with frescoes. You’ll also see ancient irrigation methods and technologies. This site is considered the 8th wonder of the world.
Pidurangala Rock - After visiting Sigiri Lion Rock, head to Pidurangala Rock. The climb has two parts: the first part is straightforward with proper stairs leading to the Reclining Buddha statue in a cave. Pidurangala Rock offers an incredible 360-degree view, opposite the famous Sigiriya Lion Rock.
Minneriya Safari - After Pidurangala Rock, embark on the Minneriya Safari. The evening Jeep Safari Tour offers a chance to see a larger gathering of elephants compared to the morning tour. You may also spot deer, water buffalo, crocodiles, iguanas, monkeys, and birds like peacocks, pelicans, and eagles.
Dambulla Cave Temple - After the Minneriya Safari, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple. This sacred pilgrimage site has been a cave monastery for 22 centuries and is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. It features Buddhist mural paintings covering 2,100 m2 and 157 statues, including a large Buddha statue and many ancient artifacts.
Kandy
Sri Dalada Maligawa - Upon arriving in Kandy from Sigiriya, your first stop should be Sri Dalada Maligawa. This shrine houses a tooth relic of Lord Buddha, making it one of Sri Lanka’s most holy sites. Although you may not see the actual tooth, the casket containing it is displayed twice daily. The site also boasts a beautiful environment and climate.
Royal Botanical Gardens - After visiting Sri Dalada Maligawa, head to the Royal Botanical Gardens. Spanning 61.25 hectares and situated about 1550 feet above sea level, the gardens feature over 4,000 plant species, including trees, palms, ferns, orchids, and shrubs.
Kandy Lake Club - Cultural Dance Show - After the Royal Botanical Gardens, enjoy a cultural dance show at the Kandy Lake Club. Traditional Kandyan dances include the cobra dance, mask dance, and Ginisila (fire dance). The vibrant spectacle culminates in an impressive fire-walking act. Dancers wear elaborate costumes, including headdresses, with their chests adorned by decorative beaded nets.
NuwaraEliya
Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden - Upon arriving in NuwaraEliya from Kandy, your first stop should be the Damro Labookellie Tea Centre and Tea Garden. NuwaraEliya, known as Little England, is the highest place in Sri Lanka. The area offers breathtaking views of tea gardens in various shades of green, with tea pluckers harvesting the tender leaves. You can also explore over 100 varieties of tea, including flavored teas.
Gregory Lake - After visiting the tea gardens, head to Gregory Lake. Built by Governor William Gregory between 1872 and 1877, the park near the lake offers activities like speed boating, swan boats, dinky boats, pony rides, and more. There is also a bicycle path around the lake.
Ella
Nine Arches Bridge - Upon arriving in Ella from NuwaraEliya, your first stop should be the Nine Arches Bridge. Built in 1921 without using iron, the bridge is made entirely of stone. Located between the Ella and Demodara railway stations, walking along the bridge offers views of rolling hills and dense jungle.
Little Adam’s Peak View Point - After visiting the Nine Arches Bridge, head to Little Adam’s Peak View Point. The sunrise and sunset here provide a beautiful glow and an amazing view from the summit. The fresh air, misty mountains, and tea bushes create a picturesque scene.
Flying Ravana Mega Zipline - After visiting the Nine Arches Bridge or Little Adam’s Peak, experience the Flying Ravana Adventure Park. This unique park in Sri Lanka features the country’s first-ever mega zip-line, stretching over half a kilometer and offering a bird’s-eye view of the hills. The park also offers ATV/quad bike rides, abseiling, archery, a climbing tower, the Rawana mega jump, tower rappelling, the Ella swing, and air rifling. Prices for activities vary and must be paid by the tourist.
Bentota
Mirissa Beach - Upon arriving in Bentota from Ella, your first stop should be Mirissa Beach. The beach features a small pool created by surrounding rocks, making it a safe place for kids to swim and parents to relax. The area is also great for surfing and spotting marine life, including turtles and blue whales. The beach’s golden sands add to its charm.
Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area - After visiting Mirissa Beach, explore the Madu Ganga Biodiversity Area. This boat safari offers a close-up view of Sri Lanka’s coastal river Madu. The 2-hour cruise takes you through wildlife-rich mangroves and islands, where you can spot monitor lizards, monkeys, crocodiles, and kingfishers. The tour also includes a visit to a Buddhist monastery on an islet, a fish pedicure spa, and a demonstration of how cinnamon is used in local cooking.
Anuradhapuraya
Ruwanwelisaya - You can visit Anuradhapura if you wish. Upon arrival, your first stop should be Ruwanwelisaya. The Ruwanweli Maha Seya, also known as the Swarnamali Maha Seya, is a stupa enshrining the largest collection of Buddha’s relics. It is one of the “Solosmasthana” (16 places of veneration) and the “Atamasthana” (8 places of veneration). Standing at 103 meters (338 feet) with a circumference of 290 meters (951 feet), it is one of the world’s tallest ancient monuments. The original stupa was about 55 meters (180 feet) high and has been renovated by many kings.
Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi - After visiting Ruwanweli Maha Seya, head to Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. This is the oldest living tree in the world, at 2600 years old. Over the centuries, statues, water canals, golden fences, and walls have been built around the tree. Buddhists make vows and offerings at the foot of this sacred fig tree, under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment. It is also one of the “Atamasthana” (8 places of veneration).
