The first day of March greets us with a cool breeze and partly cloudy skies, perfect for a leisurely exploration of this enchanting Greek isle. Our journey begins in the quaint village of Kourounochori, where the aroma of traditional Naxian cuisine beckons us to Gregory’s Cooking Class.

Here, under the expert guidance of Anna, a seasoned chef whose recipes have been passed down through generations, we embark on a culinary adventure. The class, available from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, offers a hands-on experience in crafting authentic Greek dishes. As we knead dough and stir pots, Anna shares stories of her family and the rich history of Naxos, making us feel like part of her extended family.

After our cooking session, Anna leads us on a tour of the village, where we marvel at the Venetian tower and the lush orchards that surround us. The day culminates with a feast on the terrace, overlooking the serene valley of Melanes. The flavors of our labor, paired with local wine, create a symphony of tastes that linger long after the meal is over.

Our private food tour, Old Town Food Tour, begins at 6:00 PM, just as the golden hues of sunset bathe the town in a warm glow. Led by the knowledgeable Alex, we wander through the castle’s lanes, discovering charming boutiques and hidden eateries. Each stop offers a taste of Naxian culture, from the creamy delights of Koufopoulos cheese to the savory dishes that define Greek cuisine.

As we savor each bite, Alex regales us with stories of the island’s history, weaving a tapestry of culture and tradition that enriches our understanding of Naxos. The evening concludes with a sumptuous dinner at a quaint restaurant, where the flavors of the island come alive in every dish.
