Revving Up for Adventure

As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can bring families closer together while exploring new destinations. So, when I heard about the Family Buggy Tour in Nassau, Bahamas, I knew it was a must-try for our next family adventure. The idea of cruising along the beautiful Bahamian coastline in our very own buggy, with the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces, was too tempting to resist.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly and accommodating guides, Samuel, Dominique, and Vano. They were incredibly understanding of our late arrival due to a delayed ship docking, which immediately put us at ease. After a quick tutorial on how to handle the buggies, we were off on our adventure. The buggies were easy to drive, and even though my husband’s buggy had a slight steering issue, it didn’t dampen our spirits. The ride was smooth and exhilarating, as we cruised through the roads, taking in the stunning views of the island.

Historical Wonders and Hidden Gems

Our first stop was the Clifton Heritage Park, a place rich in history and natural beauty. As a history enthusiast, I was thrilled to explore the park and learn about the island’s past. The historical tour was fascinating, and the park itself was a picturesque setting that offered plenty of photo opportunities. The kids were particularly intrigued by the stories of the Lucayan Indians and the early settlers of the Bahamas.

Despite our late start, Vano ensured we didn’t miss out on the full experience. When our delayed arrival disrupted the usual lunch plans, he went above and beyond to fetch us a delicious meal from a local spot. We enjoyed our lunch at a picnic table, surrounded by the lush greenery of the park, which made for a perfect family moment.

On our way back to the port, we made a stop at the Caves of New Providence. The kids were amazed by the natural formations, and we even got to sample some fresh almonds, which was a delightful surprise. The caves were a highlight of the tour, offering a glimpse into the island’s geological history.

A Taste of Island Life

As our tour came to an end, Dominique treated us to a refreshing island beverage at their drink stand back at the port. It was the perfect way to wrap up our day of adventure, leaving us with a taste of the local flavors and a sense of the warm Bahamian hospitality.
