- Downtown Nashville - Experience the vibrant and multifaceted city of Nashville from a local’s perspective. Discover its rich tapestry of music, history, scandals, and captivating stories. Nashville’s origins are rooted in a diverse mix of immigrants from the Northeast, Native Americans, and frontier settlers. Post-Civil War, downtown became a hub for saloons, played a crucial role in women’s suffrage, was central to the civil rights movement, and laid the groundwork for its global reputation as Music City.
- Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum - Often overlooked, this gem in Nashville honors musicians across all genres. Managed by Nashville guitar legend Joe Chambers, formerly of Chambers Guitar, the museum is located in the Municipal Auditorium. It features extensive exhibits on artists like Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash.
- Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park - Explore this expansive outdoor space celebrating 200 years of Tennessee! The park boasts a detailed marble wall historical timeline, an amphitheater (it is Nashville, after all), fountains, and various memorials. It’s conveniently located near other attractions: Nashville Sounds Baseball Stadium (AAA) with its guitar-shaped scoreboard, the Tennessee State Library, Tennessee State Museum, and the Nashville Farmer’s Market.
- Printer’s Alley - Originally home to numerous printing and publishing services in the 1800s, prohibition transformed Printer’s Alley into a musical hotspot and entertainment center, complete with speakeasies and a laissez-faire attitude among business owners and guests. Home to the Nashville treasure, Skull’s Rainbow Room, the alley remains a destination for fun, entertainment, and great music! Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Sammy Davis Jr., Paul McCartney, Elvis, and Johnny Cash are among the many entertainers who have graced this beloved area.
- Downtown Presbyterian Church - One of the few churches in the U.S. built in Egyptian Revival architecture by renowned architect William Strickland (also the architect of the Tennessee State Capitol). This pre-Civil War building also served as a Union hospital during the Civil War and is the home church of President Andrew Jackson.
- Tennessee State Capitol - Tennessee’s state capitol, which survived the Civil War, has stood since the 1850s. Designed by the renowned William Strickland, the Greek Revival structure is unique as one of only 12 state capitols without a dome. A couple of notable individuals are entombed within the building.
- Marathon Village - A fantastic spot for shopping, distilleries, breweries, and home to American Pickers. The village was once the early 20th-century automobile company Marathon Motor Works. As is typical in Nashville, Marathon also features an exciting performance venue.
- Music Row - Often mistaken for Lower Broadway, this area helped establish Nashville as Music City. From Dylan, Elvis, Foo Fighters, Tim McGraw, George Strait, Paul McCartney, Johnny Cash, to thousands of others who have recorded here, this area makes Nashville special. It is lined with recording studios, labels, publishing companies, songwriter studios, and all things music. Both historical and functional.
- The Gulch - Known as an upscale, trendy part of town with a touch of the old for good measure. It’s a great place for people-watching, with a mix of locals and visitors enjoying Nashville’s shops, food, and entertainment. Upscale hotels with vibrant rooftop bars are near a Nashville treasure, The Bluegrass Inn.
