Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Masai Mara National Reserve - Embark on an early morning journey to the Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the few remaining places on Earth where wildlife thrives in its natural habitat, reminiscent of the vast numbers that once roamed Africa’s plains and forests. As the northern extension of the expansive Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara is renowned for the breathtaking seasonal migration of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and their predators. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Masai Mara National Reserve Full Day
Masai Mara National Reserve - After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive with a packed lunch. The reserve is famous for its black-maned lions and abundant resident wildlife, and it’s one of the few places where the Big Five can be spotted during a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so accustomed to vehicles that they seek shade under them and even climb onto the roofs for a better view of potential prey. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted with nearly 500 species recorded, including 16 species of eagles, numerous hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 types of bustards (including the Kori bustard, the world’s heaviest flying bird), and 9 species of sunbirds.
Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park
Lake Nakuru - After breakfast, travel to Lake Nakuru National Park. South of Bogoria, across the equator, lies the Rift Valley’s most famous lake, Nakuru. Known worldwide for its flamingos, the lake is alkaline and recognized as one of the natural wonders of the world. Lake Nakuru is now a rhino sanctuary, home to over 40 black and more than 60 white rhinos, but the flamingos remain the main attraction. At times, nearly 2 million flamingos can be seen, creating a stunning deep pink band around the lake’s edge. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive.
Lake Nakuru - Aberdare National Park
Aberdare National Park - Begin the day with an early morning transfer to Aberdare National Park. The scenic drive through the central Kenya highlands includes stops to view tea and coffee plantations, as well as a visit to the largest open-air market in East Africa at Karatina. Aberdare National Park is home to elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs, and bushbucks, among others. Rare sightings include the Giant Forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat, and the blue duiker. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a campsite or lodge.
Aberdare - Samburu National Reserve
Samburu National Reserve - Set off on an early morning drive to Samburu Game Reserve, with a picnic lunch en route and an afternoon or evening game drive. Samburu Game Reserve is one of the most picturesque parks in Kenya’s Northern Circuit, home to indigenous wildlife, African elephants, unique zebra species, and Masai giraffes. Dinner and overnight at a campsite or lodge.
Samburu National Reserve
Samburu National Reserve - Wild and rugged, Samburu is stunningly beautiful with its arid savannahs nourished by the charming Uaso Nyiro River. It is one of Kenya’s most protected areas, home to species found only north of the equator, such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebras, and Beisa oryxes.
Samburu – Nairobi
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport - Depart from the camp or lodge after breakfast and return to Nairobi. Connect with one of the other exciting safari packages. Options include the exotic Samburu Game Reserve, the world-renowned Maasai Mara Game Reserve (also known as the eighth wonder of the world), a climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro, or relaxing on the pristine white sandy beaches of Mombasa Island along the warm Indian Ocean. Alternatively, visit a children’s orphanage, explore the shops, or simply unwind before your departure tonight.
