Note: If you encounter ticket gates at an underground level, you are at Kintetsu Nara Station, which is approximately a 15-minute walk from JR Nara Station. - Kasuga Grand Shrine - Stroll through the precincts with the guide, and you will likely see deer wandering around. Discover why deer roam freely in Nara, learn about the differences between Shinto and Buddhism, and more.
- Todai-ji Temple - Visit the Great Buddha Hall to see the Big Buddha. The guide will share stories about the Big Buddha statue and the temple. It’s a great spot for photos.
- Nara Park - Our destinations, including Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Kofukuji Temple, are all located within Nara Park. Depending on the season and the group’s pace, additional spots within Nara Park may be included.

Kofuku-ji Temple - The tour typically concludes at this temple. The five-storied pagoda is very photogenic. After providing historical insights, the guide will be happy to offer directions to train stations, suggest afternoon plans, and recommend lunch options.
(From June to September, when heatstroke is a concern, the tour may only include Kasuga Grand Shrine, Nara Park, and Todaiji Temple. If the weather permits, Kofukuji Temple may also be visited.
Kofukuji Temple’s iconic five-storied pagoda is undergoing major repairs, scheduled to be completed by March 2031. The tower may not be visible until the project is finished.)

This guided walking tour takes you through all the must-see attractions in the Nara Park area. Instead of focusing on your smartphones or guidebooks for information, take the opportunity to look around and appreciate the city. Our knowledgeable guide will share insights about the history, photo opportunities, the deer, and more. The tour typically concludes around 1 pm, allowing you ample time to explore the city independently afterward.
Please note, this is a group tour, not a private one, and includes other guests.
The tour begins promptly. As it is a group tour, we cannot wait for latecomers at the meeting point. If you arrive late, you will unfortunately miss the tour.
- The tour route includes steps and a gravel path where you would need to carry or need a harder push for your baby stroller.
- If you are arriving at Kintetsu Nara Station, please come to JR Nara Station. We cannot meet or pick you up at Kintetsu Nara Station, since this is not a private tour. We take a bus from JR Nara Station, and we do not stop at Kintetsu Nara Station.
- The tour starts punctually. As this is a group tour, we do not wait for those who cannot or does not appear on time at the meeting spot. If you arrive late, unfortunately you cannot join the tour.

*Meet your guide in front of the ticket gate at JR Nara Station. JR Nara Station has only one ticket gate. Just come out, and find a NaraWalk guide with a white flag! (Ticket gate is a machine you tap your IC card or insert your train ticket.)
*There are two "Nara Station" in Nara. Please come to JR Nara Station, not Kintetsu Nara Station.
*If you have arrived at Kintetsu Nara Station, please come to JR Nara Station. This is not a private tour, and our only meeting place is JR Nara Station.
*The tour starts punctually. As this is a group tour, we do not wait for those who cannot or does not appear on time at the meeting spot. If you arrive late, unfortunately you cannot join the tour.

Amazing tour and an amazing guide! - First of all if you book this tour and you're fortunate enough to get Seiko as your tour guide you should consider yourself LUCKY! She was amazing and made this tour so special with her knowledge, insight, mastery of english, sense of humor and preparation. From guiding us, to having various visual aids that helped expand insight into what we were looking at to even being as thoughtful as to have little baggies for us to put our 'Deer Crackers' in, she made this tour perfect. Her communication was excellent before the tour and she made sure she was easy to find. This is a tour is a MUST BOOK if you are visiting Nara.

Enjoyable Experience with Family - We really enjoyed our tour led by our guide Mamiko. She was very informative and was even able to keep our 5-year old son engaged during the experience.

Nara Walking Tour - Tour was excellent. Mayumi is very warm and personable. Her knowledge re: Nara is vast. She answered all of our questions and shared information during all of our stops. We give this tour 5+ stars.

Great tour of Nara park and old town stroll - We did both the Nara Park tour in the morning and the old town walk in the afternoon with Seiko-san. She was so kind and knowledgeable, she made the visit so much more interesting by sharing the history and legends behind different shrines, temples and statues. She gave us great recommendations for a restaurant and souvenir stores. We had a lot of fun and learned so much. We would definitely recommend this tour!

100% Recommended !! - Our tour with Seiko was perfect in every way! Communication began hours before the tour with Seiko guiding us on navigating delays and trains from Osaka to meet her at the JR Nara station. Seiko's knowledge, passion for sharing culture and information with us was so thorough that we felt we learned so much. Even after the conclusion of the tour, Seiko accompanied us as she was walking the same direction. She continued to show us sights and explain things and took us through a beautiful Japanese Garden. We highly recommend this tour. Thank you so much Seiko :)

Nara Walking Tour with Some Rain - Mamiko was an excellent tour guide. She was very insightful and answered any questions we had during our tour. Despite the rain, Mamiko remained calm and patient with my family as we navigated through Nara in light rain to take pictures and take in the sights while staying dry with our umbrellas. Overall would recommend this tour even if it is raining because it just added to the ambiance and made everything memorable.

An Amazing day in Nara - The view of the park under Yachiyo’s guidance was spectacular. She accompanied us through all the main attractions, telling us many details about the mythology behind the Shinto temple and the construction of the Buddhist ones. We even had the chance to feed the many deer in the park and learned how to properly pay our respects at the temples.

Best tour we had in Japan! - Mayumi was really great! This tour was easily the best we had on our trip in Japan. She speaks perfect English and answered all our questions. If you plan on visiting Nara this is the only way to do it!
