It was just the day. Not a lot of sightings, overcast, not much happening. We’vedone This cruise several times and realize that some days/seasons are better than others.
Our captain and our guide were both very knowledgeable about Rookery Bay and the many species of birds nesting there. We saw Bald Eagles, numerous cormorants, egrets, and even saw ospreys feeding their young.
Our guide “ Heron” was very well informed and presented the information in a very effective way. She balanced adults and lots of school aged children in a very clever way, and kept the excitable children in good control so as to not upset the adults on the tour. Well Done
We loved seeing all the different birds and habitat. The commentary by the naturalist on the cruise was as interesting and fun. We learned a lot and had a good time.
Our guide was knowledgeable, funny, and interesting.
Dan talked “too” much during the tour.....almost like he scared off the wild life... he should if had some bits of silence. Not a one man show
Great weather, great people and the boat captain and naturalist did a great job. However the weekend boat traffic in the main channel was distracting plus the lack of wildlife was a disappointment. None of these issuses was something you could controll so I would still recommend taking the cruise to friends except not on a weekend.
Great informative cruise!
Great cruise - very informative. "Heron" was excellent, providing details of the Rookery Bay eco-system. The Captain was terrific in positioning the boat, so we had an excellent view of wildlife.
Captain knew where birds, dolphin would be
Boat comfortable, good viewing
The docent was wonderful with a great knowledge of what we were looking at. Very nice way to see part of the 10,000 Islands.
Educational...very knowledgeable tour guide
It was hard to see some of the birds that were pointed out. The binoculars provided to us were not very effective because they collapsed.
Our tour guide, Francine was wonderful! She involved us and taught us about the animals and habitat of Rookery Bay. She used hands on items and pictures to enhance our experience. The boat captain was very good and helped us spot birds and dolphins too.
informative, interesting, covers nice area of water with good emphasis on nature, wildlife seen
I realize this is often about what you see that day.
I would have loved to hear more about Consevancy’s efforts on healthy water for Souyh West Florida
The naturalist on board, Joseph was superb! He gave one of the best naturalist narrations we have heard - and in this comparison we include both a previous Good Fortune trip and the narrations of a number of other naturalists on eco-boat trips trips in Florida and in other parts of the world. Also hats off to Captain Marty who handled heavy speedboat traffic in the Channel with ease and made us feel totally safe - plus who positioned the boat to give us ample time to enjoy the nature that we spotted along the way. A top notch experience by a great team!
John and Debra (Heron) provided excellent commentary on the wildlife and the environment. They were engaging, interesting, and fun. The best team!
Guide and captain excellent. Thought I had signed up for “landing” within 50’ of Keywaiden Island for shell hunting after phone conversation, but it wasn’t part of this trip.
Guide and captain were well informed. Pointed out animals of interest. they engaged the passengers. The weather was perfect but I guess you can't take credit for that.
