• Napier Municipal Theatre - Initially planned for Clive Square, the Municipal Theatre was relocated to its current location due to public petitions. Most central Napier buildings were constructed with brick, but the lime and mortar mix used was inadequate during the earthquake. The theatre was destroyed in the quake and reconstructed in 1938.
• Waiapu Anglican Cathedral, Napier, New Zealand - The cathedral’s first stone was laid in 1886, following a traditional English design, and completed in 1888. During a communion service on February 3, 1931, the building was completely destroyed, resulting in one fatality. A temporary wooden cathedral served for the next 25 years until the current structure was completed in 1965, standing as a tribute to those who rebuilt the city after the earthquake.
