Make Your Own Magnum Wine Event in Healdsburg
Create a delicious bottle of jumbo-sized magnum wine that you can take home and enjoy. Choose from a variety of wines to pick one that suits your palate.
What You Will Do
- Spend the afternoon creating your own Magnum to take home after you decorate it according to your style
- Pick from five barrels that have been selected from the Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley
- SIp and sample cabernet, merlot, malbec and petite syrah, plus enjoy a delicious buffet lunch
- Wine-making event

Lisa, Chris and the staff of Sapphire Hill are always gracious hosts. The make your own Magnum event was a fun afternoon learning how to blend wines to come up with your own custom blend that they bottled for us. We decorated our Magnums and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Attendees also received an additional discount on any purchases made that day.

We love coming to Sapphire Hill because it is a relaxed atmosphere, almost like visiting family. Great owners, great staff, great food and wine! The Make Your Own Magnum was so much fun because we all had full control of what we made, and we were all SO different in our mix. Thanks for some direction by our hosts.

Chris and I had a fantastic time "making a magnum". The experience surpassed our expectations. Lisa's culinary skills were an added plus!! We would highly recommend this to anyone wishing for more than the normal wine tasting. All the crew make us feel extremely welcomed. Thank you Sapphire Hill.
As always, Lisa, Chris and Mary made us feel welcome and before our scheduled blending of our own Magnum, we enjoyed a Chardonnay on the patio. When we went into the barrel room, appetizers awaited us so we sipped and savored while trying to figure out which wines we liked and wanted to use in our Magnum. It was so much fun pouring different combos into a beeker and then glass to swirl and then swallow. We had plenty of time to concoct the perfect recipe. We had a terrific buffet lunch of tri tip, Mac n’ Cheese, watermelon salad, cabbage, and rolls, all prepared by Chef Lisa. Topping it off was a cheery crisp and chocolate brownie. After sipping our favorite combo, we made a decision and Chris did our official blending in our Magnum which we then decorated after coming up with a name for our creation. Chatting with new friends and making a wine of our own was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

What a great event! We all sat around a family table in the barrel room and all became amateur winemakers for an afternoon. Sapphire Hill provided five bottle of various French varietals, graduated cylinders, and glasses and allowed us all to run amok. We each came up with our favorites, though I know as the afternoon evolved our palates became somewhat less acute. After each of us arrived at our favorite blend, we were served an amazing lunch (which is like all the food served here). As we were all lunching and regaling each other, the folks took our recipes off and concocted our magnums. They then provided us with metallic pens to create our own bottle artwork. This was a fantastic event and I hope they repeat it often. GREAT JOB!!!
