The Nanjing Massacre, also referred to as “The Rape of Nanking,” was a notorious war crime perpetrated by the Japanese military in and around Nanjing, the then capital of China, following its capture by the Imperial Japanese Army on December 13, 1937. Over the six weeks of the massacre, the Imperial Japanese Army killed between 40,000 and 300,000 people. This memorial hall showcases historical documents, photographs, videos, and human remains to emphasize that “history is forgivable, but unforgettable.” - Qiqiaozhen - Following this, visitors will be taken to Qiqiao Old Village, a quaint village located in the suburbs of Nanjing. Known for its well-preserved old houses, primarily in the Ming Dynasty style, Qiqiao Village is not widely recognized but offers an intriguing experience as visitors stroll along the light green paved slabs.
