Spreetshoogte Pass - The Spreetshoogte Pass crosses the Great Escarpment, linking the Namib Desert with the Khomas Highland. Spanning 50.4 kilometers, it connects Solitaire to Nauchas and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery. Originally built during World War II by farmer Nicolaas Spreeth, the pass was created to provide access to his farm, Ubib, located at the escarpment’s base. One of Namibia’s most stunning views can be seen from the top of the Spreetshoogte Pass, where the land descends approximately 2000 meters, offering a natural viewpoint over the expansive, semi-desert plains and the arid mountains beyond.
Solitaire - Nestled in the Khomas region of Central Namibia, the desert town of Solitaire acts as an oasis in the Namib Desert. The town is a crucial stop on the journey to the ancient dunes of Sossusvlei, allowing travelers to replenish supplies as they venture further into the wilderness. Solitaire also features a small bar and is famous for its renowned apple pie, reputed to be the best in the country. Enjoy a scenic sundowner with views of the
Sossusvlei excursion
Namib-Naukluft National Park - Covering nearly 50,000 square kilometers across the red-orange sands of the Namib Desert and the Naukluft Mountains to the east, the Namib-Naukluft National Park is Africa’s largest wildlife reserve and the fourth largest globally. Despite the harsh conditions, it is home to a variety of desert-adapted animals, including reptiles, antelope, hyenas, jackals, insects, and numerous bird species. A major highlight of the park is the ancient dunes of Sossusvlei, featuring some of the tallest dunes in the world, rising over 300 meters from the desert floor. This spectacular landscape includes rolling dunes, rugged moonscapes, lagoons, wetlands, and mudflats. Visitors can anticipate several impressive sights, including the iconic Dune 45, standing 170 meters tall; the Welwitschia Plains, with their otherworldly lunar terrain dotted with endemic plants; and the Dead Vlei, a photographer’s paradise.
Big Daddy Dune - Big Daddy is the tallest dune in the Sossusvlei area. This impressive dune is located between Sossusvlei and Deadvlei and, at 325 meters, it towers over the other dunes. For those seeking ultimate bragging rights, bring plenty of water and hike to the top of Big Daddy, where you can gaze down onto Deadvlei. Although Big Daddy is the highest dune in the Sossusvlei area, it is not the tallest in the Namib Desert. That title belongs to Dune 7, which measures 388 meters. Dune 7 is named for being the seventh dune along the Tsauchab River.
Deadvlei - This ancient clay pan was once an oasis, adorned with acacias and nourished by a river that suddenly changed course, leaving the land to dry up along with the trees it once supported. The climate was so arid that the trees never decomposed; instead, they were completely leached of moisture, so today, 900 years later, they stand as desiccated, blackened sentinels scattered across the pan’s cracked surface. Surrounded by the red-pink dunes of the Namib Desert, they create a surreal spectacle that is a photographer’s dream.
Sesriem Canyon - Sesriem Canyon is a fascinating natural wonder located in the heart of the Namib Desert in Namibia. Carved over millions of years by the Tsauchab River, this narrow gorge is a testament to the power of erosion. The name Sesriem comes from the Afrikaans and Dutch words for six leather straps, which early pioneers used tied together to draw water from the deep pools within the canyon. Sesriem Canyon is not only a geological marvel but also a haven for unique desert flora and fauna, making it a popular stop for tourists exploring the surreal landscapes of the Namib Desert.

Windhoek - Etosha
Okahandja Mbangura Woodcarvers Craft Market - This craft market is Okahandja’s most famous tourist attraction. Woodcarvers from various regions, including the Kavango Region of northeastern Namibia, gather here to sell their handcrafted goods. Since wood is not resistant to the wear and tear of time, wood sculptures are less durable than other art forms and thus hold a significant place in the art history of many cultures. The wood-and-thatch market is located next to the main road at the town’s entrance and exit. Choose from a wide array of hand-carved wooden artifacts such as animals, bowls, or jewelry boxes.
Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park - Situated just south of the boundary of Etosha National Park in northwestern Namibia, Etosha South comprises the southern region of this wild paradise. The area consists of a collection of world-class private game reserves. The national park can be accessed via the southern entrance at Andersson’s Gate. Visitors can observe a variety of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, elephants, white and black rhinos, and numerous plains game. Popular activities include enjoying an open 4x4 safari with an expert guide, half-day or full-day drives with the option of a picnic lunch with wine on the full-day game drive.
